Since 1980, the Center has been providing holistic career counseling and intensive career development programs that assist individuals, particularly women, in Central Ohio in gaining the skills, information, and resources needed to confidently live their own personal definitions of success through meaningful employment with fair compensation. January 23 – February 3, 2017 March 27 – April 7, 2017 December 4 – 15, 2017 ADVANCED CAREER TECHNIQUES - Meets Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday from 5 – 9pm A program for all adults offering strategies to improve self-marketing skills and increase confidence in the job search to successfully engage employer interest. February 6, 7, 8, 2017 March 20, 21, 22, 2017 May 1, 2, 3, 2017 June 5, 6, 7, 2017 July 24, 25, 26, 2017 September 18, 19, 20, 2017 October 16, 17, 18, 2017 December 11, 12, 13, 2017 E3 – EDUCATE, EMPOWER, ELEVATE A semester long program that prepares women to pursue post-secondary education with a comprehensive curriculum of educational readiness, career development, financial literacy and personal enrichment topics that will address matters of school enrollment, financial aid, work-life balance, career advancement and more! E3 is sponsored by the Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) of the United Way of Central Ohio, and facilitated in partnership by Apprisen, Godman Guild Association and New Directions Career Center. The E3 Preparation Program meets Tuesday and Thursday evenings (6 – 9pm), with an occasional Saturday, over the course of several months. Support Services are available for up to 48 months. New sessions of E3 typically begin in January and August of each year. Applications are accepted year-round. That place is New Directions. GRADUATE SERVICES We offer a series of experiences to keep you moving in the right direction. Graduate Services are available to clients who complete one or more of our core Career Development Programs. Employment Services Our Employment Service is available to graduates who wish to receive help with job searching, résumé writing, self-marketing and networking opportunities, and identifying employment leads that match their individual qualifications and career goals. Graduates are eligible to receive Employment Services for as long as they want or need, but must meet certain objectives to maintain their active status. There is a fee per session for this service, which can be reduced or waived for program graduates on a sliding fee scale. Individual Career Counseling Graduates are eligible to meet with a Licensed Counselor to discuss occupational questions and challenges, such as overcoming barriers, improving wellness, further clarification of goals and more. Sessions are tailored to an individual’s specific needs and working pace, and are held in a private setting. There is a fee per session for this service, which can be reduced or waived for program graduates on a sliding fee scale. Graduates can receive up to (8) individual sessions per calendar year. Directions to Success Support Groups Women who graduate from our New Directions programs (16 or 10-Day) are eligible to attend regular group meetings for ongoing support, encouragement, and information. Meet the Recruiter Central Ohio employers will be on-site to give an overview of their organizations, discuss any open positions, provide insider tips for employment applications, and more. Meet the Recruiter sessions are scheduled one Wednesday each month and held from 3:00 – 4:30pm. There is no cost for this service, but prior registration for each date is required. Complimentary Money Coaching Session A member of the Financial Planning Association of Central Ohio will provide expert guidance on matters of debt, credit, savings, budgets, bankruptcy, retirement, and more.
