Radio Rebanding • September 2006 - Orange County issues RFP/signs agreements; • Televate - Engineering Services • Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker P.A – Legal Counsel • May 2007 - Planning Agreement signed with Sprint/Nextel and the Transition Administrator • June 2007 - Signed Interlocal Agreements with Municipalities/Agencies for reimbursement Rebanding - Next Steps • Motorola Assessment of OC system due Apr 15, 2008 (60 days for Televate to review) • OC to submit cost estimate to Sprint-Nextel Jun 13, 2008 (30 days to negotiate, then mediation) • Shulman, Rogers, Gandal, Pordy & Ecker P.A filed Rebanding extension with FCC for Region including Orange County Rebanding - Next Steps • Sign Frequency Reconfiguration Agreement (FRA) with Sprint-Nextel Jul, 2008. • Select location to conduct installation and reprogramming. • Expect possible delay signing implementation Agreement With Motorola. • Start rebanding possibly November 2008. Radio System Future – Current system reaches end of life Dec, 2012 (Technical Support Stops) – System purchased 1992 for $19m – Certain components are obsolete now and manufacturer discontinued. – Technology and competition – Fourth Quarter Specials.
