WHAT BROADENS MY HORIZON
Regional Competition Speaking Contest, Amersfoort
Round two of the Speaking Contest for 2nd and 3rd
year students took place on Thursday 9 March at the
Farel College in Amersfoort with Kaylie Gulmans and
Arwen van ‘t Riet representing us.
This year’s theme, as mentioned before in our
account of the school
contest, was ‘What
Broadens my
Horizon’ which
resulted in a variety
of topics.
Both our girls gave an inspired speech. Arwen was the
very first speaker of the afternoon, which of course is
especially challenging (plus the fact that she had a bad
cold). Alas, no prizes this time for our students. The
increasing competition no doubt had an influence on
the results; ten schools were competing this year whereas in the past there used to be
only five or ten participating schools. But Arwen and
Kaylie will no doubt let themselves be heard again in
future speaking and/or debating contests in our senior
school!
