Location: Hours per week: Section: Driving licence requirement: Payment Allowance: Inner Fringe Weighting allowance Responsible to: Head of Operations & Development Responsible for: n/a PLACE IN ORGANISATION CHART OF DEPARTMENT: Watford BID Board/Chair of Board Chief Executive Head of Development & Operations Marketing & Communications Manager BID Administrator Business Co-ordinator Purpose of Role: To develop, promote and manage the Watford radio link scheme with businesses/retailers in Watford town centre. Working with key stakeholders to monitor intelligence, report and implement initiatives to help reduce crime against business in the town and improve perceptions of the town as a place to do business. To act as the liaison point between businesses and act as the point of contact with the Police 1 of 4 and other stakeholders and the BID in relation to reducing crime in the BID area. Key Accountabilities: Assisting with and contributing to the successful delivery of Watford BIDs Business Plan 2015 – 20121, Theme 1, enhancing the look and feel of the town. Effective management, delivery and expansion of the direct radio scheme across the town centre. Providing support, intelligence and guidance to businesses participating in the radio link scheme. Working closely with key stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of crime reduction initiatives. Responsibilities Effective and successful development of the direct radio scheme, increasing membership year on year. Supporting and training businesses in the effective use of the direct radio scheme. Providing appropriate, effective and timely intelligence to businesses across the town which supports the delivery of the direct radio scheme and the delivery of theme 1 of the BID Business Plan. Maintenance and management of the direct radio scheme. Facilitating and managing monthly meetings with members of the direct radio scheme. Circulating minutes and updating websites and other communication channels with the appropriate and relevant information. Maintain the Association of Business Crime Partnerships, Safer Business Award. Maintain all relevant databases and budgets – reporting any issues to the Head of Operations & Development. Assisting in the delivery of Watford BID’s key theme 1 promoting and ensuring a safe and welcoming town centre. Key Performance Indicators: The successfully delivery and development of the radio link scheme providing which ensures the Business Co-ordinators post is self-financing in all aspects. Key Relationships: Hertfordshire Police and Watford BID team. Town centre and Watford business community. Watford Borough Council, other key stakeholders such as Herts County Council. Members of the Board. Relevant professional agencies and organisations. Important Notes Relating to Duties: In dealing with any form of contract or tendering procedures on behalf of the BID, the holder of this post is personally responsible for ensuring that she/he:- Is familiar with the relevant requirements of contracts procedures, Rules and Financial Procedure Rules, and other management guidance that may be given from time to time; - Complies with these formal requirements and related procedures; and - Seeks advice from an appropriate person with specialism in subject area if in any doubt about the proper course of action. 2 of 4 PERSON SPECIFICATION This section presents the knowledge, skills, experience, personal qualities and qualifications that are considered essential for a person being deployed to this role. Knowledge/skills/qualifications: Educated to good level Knowledge of retail security or policing Knowledge of working in a town centre or retail environment Understanding of working with partnerships Experience Experience of working in a retail or security/policing environment Working with a range of organisations and stakeholders in a town centre environment. Mentoring, managing or training people Dealing and presenting to a diverse audience Report writing and presenting. ICT/ technological aptitude Experience of working with a radio security system Experience of working with a range of IT products (e.g. MS Office applications, Intermediate/ advanced Outlook, Spreadsheets, database etc) Personal qualities Good people and relationship skills Excellent communication skills Ability to work independently Patient yet tenacious Open to new ideas Creative and innovative thinker.
