Dear Sir/Madam

Play Worker position - one-day per week (female only*)
Survive is an innovative agency working with women and children who have experienced domestic
violence and abuse. We are looking to employ an enthusiastic Play Worker for one-day per week
(7.5 hours); ideally on a Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon. You will need to have at least
two years experience of work in a relevant field and experience of delivering play and activity
sessions and be able to work flexibly.
You will join our dynamic play team and support the Prevention Worker and Play Leader to provide
play and family sessions for children of all ages who live in Survives refuges. You will be creative,
child centred, able to provide positive role modelling to both genders and will be flexible; meeting
the needs of a wide range of children. During the school holidays we also support the families to
engage in off-site trips in a range of settings across Bristol and South Gloucestershire. You will also
support the Family Support Worker and Children and Young People’s team with support plan actions
and project work.
You will be confident to co-deliver crèche sessions based in the community. You will be expected to
have a good understanding of the needs of pre-school children and provide stimulating childcare in a
safe and therapeutic environment. These sessions last 2 hours and are held three times a week in
three different locations (term time only).
The crèche and play sessions are based in various locations and so you will need the ability to get to
different sites across South Gloucestershire. This is a fixed term contract until w/c 12 September
2016.
A full induction will be provided to develop your skills as part of our commitment to a fully trained
and supported staff team. Survive is a growing organisation with a staff team of 25 and a strong
reputation in South Gloucestershire and Bristol. In 2014 we celebrated our 40 year anniversary.
Salary: £20,575 to £23,300 per annum, pro rata (£10.69 per hour)
 Closing date: 5pm on Monday 11th April 2016.
We are looking for an immediate start where possible.
 Interviews: Monday 18th April 2016 – afternoon.
Survive is committed to equality of opportunity in all aspects of our work.
