Also present: Mrs S Ellerby (Clerk to the Governors) Mr Leeman and Mrs Johnson – Phonics Presentation Agenda Minutes Item No. 1 Action by whom/when Apologies for absence (received prior to the meeting) Apologies for absence received from: Mrs K Gooderham - Poorly Mrs K Baldock - Bereavement Clerk to note register Governors agreed to approve these absences as authorised. 2 Declaration of Interests in items on this agenda None MC arrived 6.10 p.m. SL & AJ left the meeting at 6.15 p.m. 3 Presentation from Mrs Johnson and Mr Leeman - Phonics Mrs Johnson presented a power point titled ‘Phonics’ to governors. The presentation detailed processes set in place to enhance Phonics provision Headteacher’s Report The Headteacher’s Report for January 2016 was issued with the agenda for perusal prior to this meeting. The following points were discussed in detail: Peer to peer review The Infant school is due to undertake its peer review - please see dates listed below. Governors are very warmly invited to attend any part of the process; please let Mrs Ellerby know when you would like to participate. Review day Friday 22nd January 2016 Please note Workshop Tuesday 9th February at the Junior School your diaries at 3.45 p.m. Reviewers will consist of the following Headteachers – The Lead Reviewer is Mrs L Anyan (Donington-on-Bain) and support reviewers are Mrs T Roberts (Kidgate) and Miss A Latif (Saltfleetby and Theddlethorpe) Attendance levels Governors noted that attendance levels remain above national average at both 1 schools for the period September 2015 to December 2015. CONFIDENTIAL PART B 4 Approval of the Minutes of meetings held on: 16th November 2015 – Full Governors RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the Full Governing Body meeting held on 16th November 2015 7th December 2015 – Finance Governors RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the Resource and Finance Committee meeting held on 7th December 2015 7th December 2015 – Standards Governors RESOLVED to approve the minutes of the Standards Committee meeting held on 12th October 2015. Chair to sign approved minutes Vice-chair to sign committee meeting minutes * NB. Committee meeting minutes were approved by members of those committees, present at that meeting. 5 Matters arising from the minutes detailed above: Full Governing Body 16th November 2015 Local Authority Governor vacancy After approaching the Parish Council and Lincolnshire County County Council, detailing the skills required to enhance our effective governing body, Mrs Tracy Frisby has been nominated for the post of Local Authority Governor. Holton le Clay Schools Governing Body approved the election of Mrs Frisby as our new Local Authority Governor with effect from today’s meeting. Finance meeting 7th December 2015 Pupil Premium policy review The full governing body approved the review of the Pupil Premium Policy following recommendations of the Finance Committee at their meeting held 7th December 2015. Pay Policy review The full governing body approved the review of the Pay Policy (modelled on the Lincolnshire County Council model policy) following recommendations of the Finance Committee at their meeting held 7th December 2015. 6 Headteachers Performance Management review 2015 CONFIDENTIAL PART B 7 Policy Reviews: These policies were issued with the agenda for this meeting for governors to bring challenges and comments regarding these reviews: 2 Clerk to advise Governor Services and Mrs Frisby Access Plan Governors approved the review of the Access plans for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School EYFS Governors approved the review of the Early Years Foundation Stage Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School Behaviour Governors approved the review of the Behaviour Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School Extra-Curricular Governors approved the review of the Extra-Curricular Clubs Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School Collective Worship Governors approved the review of the Collective Worship Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School Assessment Governors approved the review of the Assessment Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School following the adoption of the School Pupil Tracker system for assessment. DH to take to staff meeting Maths policy (including calculation progression) Governors approved the review of the Maths and Calculations Policies for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School with the amendment to the Maths policy of removing the section referring to the named governor for maths as governor responsibility is now per year group and not subject. Amend policy Phonics Policy Governors approved adoption of the Phonics Policy for Holton le Clay Infant and Holton le Clay Junior School 8 Parent/Pupil Questionnaires November 2015 Questionnaires to parents and pupils were once again undertaken and a summary of responses prepared and shown to governors at the meeting. Responses were very positive, all questions above 92% agreement.
