Practise and repeat the pronunciation with them as you go along. 4) Stop to do a self-monitoring moment. 5) Repeat the predictions of the book and then read the book one time with the kids. Get the students to repeat the refrain and gestures with you. “ I spy, with my little eye…..” (pointing to your eye) and “ I can hear with my little ear…” (pointing to your ear). 6) Following the story, listen to the song one time, while following along with the book. 7) Return to the seats and do another self-monitoring moment. 8) Explain Student Handout #1. 9) Students complete the exercise while listening to the song. 10) If time permits, do another self-monitoring moment. (Suggestion: I place the words under the wrong vehicle and then present them this, as if there are no mistakes. They obviously laugh at me and tell me no, and with the help of various students, we correct the errors and place the correct word under each image, one at a time, always repeating each one.) 3) Stop to do a self-monitoring moment. 4) Continue by asking the students what kind of sound each vehicle makes. Post the correct sound with each image and practise them with the students. 5) Read the story again, this time getting the students to repeat not only the refrain, but the different sounds as well. 6) Following the story, listen to the song, allowing the students to sing the parts they know and also putting emphasis on the different sounds. I suggest playing the song a second time – the kids like to sing and do the sounds. It gets them motivated! 7) Stop to do a self-monitoring moment. 8) Explain Student Handout #3. (Students must cut out the various sounds and glue them next to the correct vehicle on Student Handout #2.) 9) Students complete the exercise while listening to the song. 10) If time permits, do another self-monitoring moment. (Suggestion: Ask the children to name orally all the means of transportation that they have learned in the past 2 classes. Put up the posters as each one is named. Then, point to each poster and ask what sound it makes and ask the child to come up, choose the correct sound card and place it with the correct image.) 3) Stop to do a self-monitoring moment. 4) Following the story, listen to the song, allowing the students to sing the parts they know and also putting emphasis on the different sounds. I suggest playing the song a second time – the kids like to sing and do the sounds. It gets them motivated! 5) Stop to do a self-monitoring moment. 6) Explain Student Handout #4. This activity combines the two notions that have been studied: the means of transportation and their various sounds, as well as integrating their prior knowledge of the colours. 7) Students complete the exercise while listening to the song. 8) If time permits, do another self-monitoring moment.
