MEMBRANE SOLUTIONS PURIFYING THE WATERS OF THE WORLD EXPERIENCE ! Enaqua has been designing and fabricating MF, UF, NF and RO systems for over 20 years. Our engineering and design team have in excess of 100 years of experience – going back to the early days of spiral membrane technology where our founder was in charge of the US Governments proving grounds at Roswell, NM. This experience ensures that the project is completed to the highest standards. In addition to the design and technology experience, Enaqua has substantial experience in operating RO systems. We utilize this operating experience to design and manufacture the system with the operator in mind. We have helped many of our friends in the industry, including assistance on a 50 MGD seawater desalination project in California. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY ! Enaqua’s design philosophy is simple and relatively unique in the industry. Each system is individually optimized, and every project is customized to meet the customer’s requirements as opposed to making the customer adapt to a standard design. We build systems conservatively to minimize operational issues and ensure long term reliable performance. Robust control systems are utilized that continually monitor and control each system. Touch screen interfaces are typically used for system operation and control, use of variable frequency drives and energy recovery systems are utilized where applicable to minimize power usage and operating costs. SPIRAL UF vs. HOLLOW FIBER UF Significant advancements have been in ultrafiltration membrane products over the last decade. These advancements have been driven by technological benefits, the need to reuse wastewater, and stricter regulations regarding the treatment of surface water for use as potable water. Through this developmental stage, no clear technology, membrane type, or configuration has emerged as a leader in the field. WATER TO FILTER IN FILTERED WATER OUT Membranes are available in numerous configurations including hollow fiber, plate and frame, and spiral. The hollow fiber membranes suffer from fiber breakage issues, with thousands and thousands of fibers susceptible to breakage on each and every project. Plate & frame configurations do not have this issue, however they are not as efficient in packaging membrane area. Both the hollow fiber and the plate & frame have the disadvantage of being proprietary in nature, with the end user locked into the manufacturer for replacements for the life of the product. Enaqua believes that the spiral UF configuration offers the best combination of membrane technology, simplistic design, cost effectiveness and low O&M costs. THE ALTERNATIVE TO MBR’s In the current state of the art wastewater treatment plant, the trend is to move away from tried and true biological processes and move to Membrane Bio-Reactors (MBR’s). Although MBR’s are a novel and very functional process they are quite expensive to install and operate. Enaqua has teamed with manufacturers of standard package plants and Sequencing Batch Reactors to provide turnkey biological and tertiary treated water that may be used for reuse. The use of SBR’s plus Enaqua’s ENPURE Microor Ultra-filtration membrane systems is a cost effective and low maintenance option to MBR technology. The Enaqua Advantage Spiral UF Systems specifically designed for wastewater Designed for simple operation Non-proprietary membranes used on all projects Skid mounted for easy installation No membrane fibers to break or repair Brackish and seawater desalination Touch screen operator Interface Energy recovery for seawater and brackish RO applications SCADA control systems available Designed and manufactured in the USA Custom designed systems for each application MEMBRANE SOLUTIONS PURIFYING THE WATERS OF THE WORLD Enaqua Membrane Solutions and Systems cover a broad range of applications.
