Program Mission
Statement
Intended Outcomes
The mission of the Transfer
Center and the Transfer
Opportunity Program (TOP)
is to provide comprehensive
support services and a
seamless transition for
students seeking to transfer
to four-year colleges and
universities. We believe that
all students should be given
the opportunity and the
information needed to
continue their education at a
four-year institution should
they wish to do so.
What will students be able to think,
know, do, or feel because of a given
educational experience in a course or
a program?

Means of Assessment &
Criteria for Success
Analysis of Data
Collected
What are the specific assessment tools
that will establish the degree & extent
of what is to be achieved? Use the
Assessment Toolbox – Part 1 to help
you determine the best assessment
method to use. It can be accessed on
the OCC portal, Program Review
Committee site, Assessment Toolbox
tab.
Summarize findings vis-à-vis
outcomes, means of assessment, &
criteria for success. Include your
process for determining who
participated in the assessment and
the sample size.
What is the criterion for success?
PSLO #1
The Transfer Center will
provide students with
opportunities to develop
individual contacts with fouryear institutions
Review number of student
contacts with four year
institutions through
appointment log and individual
student files to determine
meetings with four year
campus representatives for
years fall 06- fall 09.
What do the data tell us about your
process in terms of goals,
outcomes, and means of
assessment, defined criteria for
success, implementation process,
and data collection?


Of all students that
secured an
appointment, 82%
kept the meeting.
Therefore, the
process of
providing
opportunities to
develop contacts
with four year
representatives is
working.
Use of Results
Include any resources on Doc. V
What do the data tell us about
program improvement:

What, if anything, do we
need to do at the program
or course level to improve
student learning or
service?

What resources are
necessary?
-
-
Increase access:
Track interest for
appointments for the
evening student
population and adjust
scheduleing
accordingly.
Develop the ability
to provide targeted
appointments that
meets student
demand.


70% of students that sign up
for a meeting with a four year
campus representative will do
so.
PSL0 #2
The Tranfer Opportunity
Program (TOP) will provide
services that increase the
persistence towards transfer
of under-represented students
to 4 year institutitons by
helping develop strong study
skills that lead to academic
success.
Review files of freshman TOP
students to determine their
success in completing the first
semester at OCC. (sample
semesters fall 2007 and fall
2008)
Track the number of TOP
students who successfully
complete Counseling A102
(Becoming a Master student)
during their first semester.
(sample semesters fall 2007
and fall 2008)
70% of TOP students will
successfully complete their
first semester goals at OCC.



There is no record
of quantifialble
data for students
who could not
secure an
appointment.
Therefore, the
goal of 70% is not
a comprehensive
indicator of
meeting student
demand because
its not an adequate
method of tracking
the requests and
opportunity for
appointments for
all students.
For fall 2007,
there was a total of
91 TOP students.
Of the 91 total
students, 83
completed their
first semester
successfully.
(91%) (Succes is
defined by
achieving an
overall GPA of
2.0)
Of these 91 total
students in
Counseling A102
sections, 81
successfully (“C”
or better)
completed the
course (90%).
-
Develop ability to
provide online
appointment access
to representatives
Reinforce appointmet and
follow up process:
- Further develop
prioritization of
appointments
- Develop waitlist
process
- Refine confirmation
of appointments


Even though the
level of counseling
support meets the
specific demands
stated for the fall
semester, and the
retention rate is high,
there is a need to
build into the
program a way to
monitor, evaluate
and advise students
during the following
spring semester.
Develop a
Counseling A199
special topics course
in the spring
semester to introduce
matriculation
guidelines to those



For fall 2008,
there was a total of
109 TOP students.
Of the 109 total
students, 99
successfully
completed their
first semester.
(90%) (Success is
defined by
achieving an
overall GPA of
2.0)
Of these 109 in
Counseling A102,
101 students
completed the
course
successfully (“C”
or better) (93%).
Therefore, for both
years the success
rate of 70% or
higher was met.
