Computer Tutorial: How To: Accept or Reject Direct Loans Online Purpose: This tutorial demonstrates how to accept or reject Direct student loans online using WebAdvisor. 1. Go to the homepage of the Indian Hills Community College website. (www.indianhills.edu) On the left side of the page, find “Quick Links.” Access the drop-down menu by clicking the double arrow. ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 1 of 8 2. In the drop-down menu, click “WebAdvisor.” 3. Once you access “WebAdvisor,” click “LOG IN.” ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 2 of 8 4. Enter your “User ID” and “Password,” and click “Submit.” If this is the first time you have logged in to WebAdvisor, your password will be your seven digit student number. 5. On your “WebAdvisor” main menu, select “Students.” ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 3 of 8 6. Under the “Financial Aid” heading, select “Accept or reject my financial aid awards.” 7. On the next page, select the Academic Year that corresponds to the awards you wish to view from the drop-down menu. Note: Academic Years always change at the beginning of Fall term. For example: “2012 Academic Year” should be selected for awards given in the academic year that starts with the 2012 Fall term. This includes the 2013 Spring term and the 2013 Summer term(s). ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 4 of 8 8. Click “Submit.” 9. At the top of the “Accept/Reject FA Awards” page is a list of all awards available for the academic year that you chose on the previous page. Note: Grants and scholarships do not require online action on your part to activate. ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 5 of 8 10. The individual box in the center allows you to “Accept” or “Reject” all loan awards at once. Note: To adjust accepted loan awards, please contact a Financial Aid Advisor. ©Indian Hills Community College | www.indianhills.edu | Page 6 of 8 11. The bottom section lists all loan awards. Grants and scholarships do not require online action on your part to activate. This area gives you the ability to select “Accept Award” or “Reject Award” from the “Action to Take” drop-down menu for each individual award. Note: If you would like to adjust the amounts or terms of your loan awards, you must complete a Loan Adjustment Request (LAR) and turn it in to the Financial Aid Office instead of accepting/rejecting loans online. Click “Submit” once you have accepted or rejected your loan awards (this is not required if you are completing an LAR). Note: Following your submission, you will see all Accepted awards for the Academic Year listed. Your decisions will be reviewed by the Financial Aid Office for any adjustments and your aid will be finalized. Then, you will receive notification through your IHCC email account once your aid is finalized. If you are a First-Time Federal Student Loan Borrower, there are two additional online steps that you will need to complete: Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling.
