DC Metro CUPA‐HR Chapter: Board Retreat, Open Board Positions and June Spring Fling Event! Greetings DC Metro CUPA‐HR Chapter Members, The DC Metro Board met recently to round out the end of the FY14 year and to develop our strategic plan for the upcoming FY15 year, which begins July 1, 2014 and ends June 30, 2015. Our retreat focused on the following topics: Review and Adoption of By‐Laws Nomination of Communications and Social Media Director Vacant Officer Positions and Committee Members Membership Dues Structure Website and Logo Confirmation of Schedule for the following events: o Conference and Annual Meeting o Holiday Networking Reception o Winter Professional Development Event o Spring Conference o Spring Fling and Networking Event Creation of Corporate Sponsorship Package Vacant Officer Positions and Committee Chairs Our chapter has a vacant Board position that will become available at the end of this current fiscal year (June 30, 2014). We are seeking individuals who have an interest in serving as a leader of the association in the following officer position: VICE‐PRESIDENT/PRESIDENT‐ELECT: The President‐Elect shall serve as the special aide to the President, and shall assume all presidential duties in the absence of the President. The Vice President/President‐Elect will be responsible for managing all activities related to chapter surveys and elections. The Vice President/President‐Elect shall promote the Chapter and membership in the Chapter and report on membership status and Board and Chapter meetings. The Vice President/President‐Elect shall have and exercise all the powers and duties of the President in case of absence or inability to act, and shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed, from time to time, by the President. We also seek volunteers to serve in several committee roles. The following committee roles are available: PROGRAM CO‐DIRECTORS (two positions available): Shall chair the Program Committee and are charged with planning and implementing the annual conferences and meetings of the chapter in consultation with the President and the Board and plan and carry out the programmatic functions of the Chapter. The Program Co‐Chairs will also be responsible for promoting upcoming chapter events. COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Shall work with the Program Co‐Directors in assisting with program development, logistics, and hospitality. All nominations should be received no later than May 23, 2014. Elections will take place at the June 2014 chapter meeting. Spring Fling Networking Event Please join us on June 3 for a Spring Fling Networking Event to celebrate the advent of spring (hopefully) and to network with our colleagues and sponsors! This is an evening networking event to be held from 5‐8pm. The exact location of the event will be forthcoming via separate email. Membership Dues The Board voted to forgo membership dues during our initial FY14 launch year. A decision regarding membership dues applicability for the FY15 will be announced at the June Annual Meeting.
