Three Key Deliverables – to anchor CoP
1. MER Framework
2. “Review of Reviews” of existing MER
3. Guidance document for developing recommendations to
support production/use of available data for countryspecific MER
8
1. MER Research Framework
• Aims:
• To organize the research by useful terms (e.g. by intervention and
outcome) and categories (e.g. by geography).
• To identify gaps / areas of duplication/concentration of research
initiatives and support prioritization of future research, coordination
among stakeholders, and to promote evidence-based policy.
• Target Audiences:
• Funders, producers, and users of MER
• Illustrative deliverable:
• (together with “review of reviews”) Matrix of existing malaria economic
research, which can be filtered by various fields (e.g. location, type of
research)
• Suggestions for CoP involvement:
• Provide feedback on draft matrix via website
9
2. “Review of Reviews” of Malaria Economic Literature
• Aim:
• To understand the breadth and types of MER conducted to date
• To identify gaps / areas of duplication/concentration of research
initiatives and support prioritization of future research, coordination
among stakeholders, and to promote evidence-based policy.
• Target Audiences:
• Funders, producers, and users of MER
• Illustrative deliverable:
• (together with Research Framework) Matrix of existing malaria
economic research, which can be filtered by various fields (e.g.
location, type of research)
• Suggestions for CoP involvement:
• Post/send us your literature reviews to collate
10
3. Guidance document for developing recommendations to
support production/utilization of data for MER
• Aim:
• Guide target audience members in making decisions on the type(s) of
MER that would be useful to them given their particular needs
• Describe the types of data that would be needed for each type of MER
• Document best practices on how countries have been able to generate
the necessary data for the purpose of MER, or leverage other already
existing sources of data for MER (for example, DHS surveys)
• Target Audiences:
• Malaria planners/programmers/implementers (e.g. NMCP)
• Country-level decision-makers (e.g., MOH, MOF)
• Funders (e.g., PMI, GF)
• Suggestions for CoP involvement:
• Review draft concept note; contribute to discussions as activity is
formulated
