Addiction to
smartphones is
damaging the
family system
PeTalInG JaYa: Malaysians are
beginning to find out that their
addiction to smartphones can lead to
a host of problems.
On top of the list are family meals
where members hardly talk to each
other as their attention is focused on
the smartphones.
Malaysians are also running up
huge bills updating their Facebook
and Tweets.
There are signs that such an addiction has led to dysfunctional families
and even quarrels between spouses.
Youngsters, meanwhile, are unable to learn real-life social skills as
their world revolves around texting
and online chatting.
And there could be health problems, too.
A family counsellor also warned
that people who used smartphones
frequently risked ruining their relationship with loved ones.
