Project Summary
•
Aim: Achieved a significant reduction in energy used in
urban freight transport by promoting Delivery and Servicing
Plans (DSPs).
•
TRAILBLAZERs transferred knowledge and experience to
the PATHFINDERS. User Group and ASSIMILATORS
learned from the experience of others
•

Background
•
Traffic causes problems:
– high levels of energy consumption, pollution,
noise, congestion and safety hazards
•
There are very few initiatives to increase
the efficiency of the freight transport
systems in urban areas
•
DSPs can reduce energy used for
deliveries. (Växjö 51% ).
•
TRAILBLAZER demonstrated reduction in
energy used in urban freight transport
through promoting DSPs across Europe.

Objectives and Main Steps (1)
•
Strategic objective: to reduce energy used in
urban freight transport through public sector
policy interventions.
•
Specific objectives:
–
Implementation and development of DSPs by the
4 PATHFINDERs.
–
More than achieved a 10% reduction in energy
use in PATHFINDER cities as a result of DSPs.

Transferred knowledge and exchanged
experience
–
Promoted best practice in freight energy
efficiency.

Engagement with organisations across Europe
through the User Group and the

efficiency amongst organisations in Europe
