U.S.G.A. Rules will govern all play except for the
following local rules.
12
Distance–Measuring Devices: A player may obtain
distance information by using a device that measures
distance only.
However, if during a stipulated round, a player uses a
distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or
measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g.,
gradient, wind-speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in
breach of Rule 14-3.
Embedded Ball Rule is in Effect. Through the green, a
ball which is embedded in its own pitch-mark in the
ground, other than sand, may be lifted without penalty,
cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay
but not nearer the hole. The ball when dropped must first
strike a part of the course through the green.
Immovable Obstructions: All cart paths and service roads
and extensions thereof are considered immovable
obstructions. (Rule 24-2) Through the green, the players
must lift the ball and drop it without penalty within one
club length of and not nearer the hole than the nearest
point of relief. The nearest point of relief must not be in a
hazard or on a putting green. When the ball is dropped
within one club length of the nearest point of relief, the
ball must first strike a part of the course at a spot that
avoids interference by the immovable obstruction and is
not in a hazard and not on a putting green.
Aeration Holes: Through the green, a ball which comes to
rest in or on an aeration hole may be lifted without
penalty, cleaned and dropped, as near as possible to the
spot where it lay no nearer the hole. The ball when
13
dropped must first strike a part of the course through the
green. On the putting green, the players shall place the
ball at the nearest spot no nearer the hole which avoids
such situation.
Practice is allowed on the golf course prior to and in
between rounds in stroke play competition per note for
Rule 7-2.
Time of Starting: If the player arrives at his starting point,
ready to play, within five minutes after his starting time, in
the absence of circumstances that warrant waiving the
penalty of disqualification as provided in Rule 33-7, the
penalty for failure to start on time is loss of the first hole
to be played in match play or two strokes in stroke play.
Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is
disqualification.
Suspension of Play Due to a Dangerous Situation: When
play is suspended by the committee for a dangerous
situation and the players in a match or group are
between the play of two holes, they must not resume play
until the committee has ordered a resumption of play. If
they are in the process of playing a hole, they must
discontinue play immediately and not resume play until
the committee has ordered a resumption of play. If a
player fails to discontinue play immediately, he is
disqualified unless circumstances warrant waiving the
penalty as provided in Rule 33-7.
Immovable Obstructions Close to Putting Green: Relief
from interference by an immovable obstruction may be
taken under Rule 24-2. In addition, if a ball lies off the
14
putting green, but not in a hazard and an immovable
obstruction, on a closely mown area, or within two clublengths of the putting green and within two club-lengths
of the ball intervenes on the line of play between the ball
and the hole, the player may take relief as follows: The
ball must be lifted and dropped at the nearest point to
where the ball lay which (a) is not nearer the hole, (b)
avoids intervention and (c) is not in a hazard or on a
putting green. The ball may be cleaned when lifted.
Please refer rules disputes to the golf professional.

System is that each player will try to make the best score
he can on each hole in every round he plays and that he
will post every round for peer review. Each member must
