Be a part of our future!
As 2016 comes to a close, The Actors Studio of Newburyport is completing its 25 th
year. We are very proud of our accomplishments and the presence we have
established in the Greater Newburyport Cultural Landscape.
Prior to attaining 501(c)(3) status in 2007, we produced the occasional play, while
focusing on our many training classes and workshops. Since then we have
maintained an ambitious production schedule including well-known plays, new
plays, staged readings, concerts and multi-discipline pieces. We have presented
more than 100 productions and cultural events. Collaborating with great local
artists, we have combined dance, music, poetry and theater and celebrated visual
arts and photography. We have been thrilled to host a number of talented
professional performers from across the nation.
The plays we have presented have addressed such issues as HIV/AIDS, gender
identity, racial and economic equality, sexual identity, cultural diversity, antiSemitism, xenophobia and the compelling challenges of artistic expression. We have
celebrated the human spirit in eight years of Women’s History Month programming
and had the honor of collaborating with The Newburyport Art Association, Powow
River Poets, Maggie Budzyna’s Performing Project and the Youth Development
Organization, The Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, City Hall, The Dear World
Organization and The Tannery Market Place.
As you know, we have also developed our physical surroundings with new seating,
silent heating and cooling and, most recently, our new digital, LED stage lighting
system. All of this we did with your encouragement and backing.
As we build on our accomplishments, we look to the future with a great sense of
excitement and purpose. We would not be where we are without your generous
support. On behalf of myself, and our Board of Directors, I invite you to be a part of
our future by contributing to our 2016 Annual Appeal.
