University of Cambridge Holiday Playscheme Planned Activities: Easter 2017 Over the holiday there will be a wide variety of planned activities available, shown in the timetable below. If children do not wish to participate in these then there are many other play opportunities available. Some children prefer to play and organise their own games with friends, and there are always other activities on offer such as arts and crafts, sports, rollerblading, board games, construction, den building, woodwork, music, role play, fancy dress, cooking, reading, messy play, water play, group games and much, much more! Please note that occasionally activities may change with no prior warning. Activities can also get rather messy so please bring appropriate clothing. Monday 3rd April Skipping Games Den Building Volcanoes Spring Banner VISITOR: Tatty Bumpkin Yoga Tuesday 4th April Tag Rugby Angry Birds Sock Puppets Potions UNDER 8yrs: Picnic at the Park Wednesday 5th April Thursday 6th April Shaving Foam Marbling Rounders Spring Chalking Animal Masks A fun yoga session at St Mary’s from 2:30-4pm Today we can test our speed in a game of tag rugby, practice our throwing skills in a life size version of angry birds, get creative making sock puppets and experiment with different ingredients to make magical potions. Today children aged 7 and under can go on a trip to the local park to play games, enjoy the playground and have lunch weather depending. Venue TBC. Today we can make incredible patterns by combining shaving foam and marbling inks, play a game of rounders, draw interesting calk designs outside and we can become an animal for the day by creating masks. OVER 11yrs TRIP: Cinema Children aged 11 and over can go on a trip to the cinema. Film & times TBC Superhero Hama Beads Bottle Rockets Tennis Skills Pokémon Hunt Today we can make key rings inspired by Superhero’s using Hama beads, build rockets out of plastic bottles and launch them into the sky, become a tennis star and play our own version of the popular app Pokémon Go. VISITOR: Tatty Bumpkin Yoga Friday 7th April Today we can take part in a variety of skipping games and challenges, build our own dens and hideouts, make a mess with our very own erupting volcanoes and create an Easter banner to bring Spring to life at Playscheme. Dodgeball Blind trail Stain glass windows Cupcakes A fun yoga session at Chesterton from 2:30-4pm Today we can play the fast paced, action packed game of dodgeball, navigate around a string-led obstacle course wearing a blindfold, create interesting stain glass windows and bake delicious cupcakes. Monday 10th April Decorating Egg Cups Relay Races Bug Hunt Musical Instrument Making VISITOR: Tatty Bumpkin Yoga Tuesday 11th April Jewel Thief Quest Origami Parachute Games Bubble Painting OVER 8yrs TRIP: Swimming Wednesday 12th April Chocolate Nests Man Hunt Swamp Escape Hat Making and Parade VISITOR: Tatty Bumpkin Yoga Thursday 13th April Hula Ball Challenge Paper Minions Straw Skyscraper Easter Egg Hunt Today we can decorate egg cups with exciting designs, challenge each other to a wacky relay race, investigate in the garden to see what bugs we can find and create our own musical instruments to play in a Playscheme band. A fun yoga session at St Mary’s from 2:30-4pm Today we can take part in a challenge to see who can navigate a string course and steal a prized jewel, make sculptures out of paper using the Japanese art of origami, go wild with exciting parachute games and create your own bubble art. Children aged 8 and over can go on a swimming trip, venue and times TBC. Today we can bake some tasty chocolate nests to take home, test your running skills with a game of man hunt, attempt to cross a treacherous swamp and make an interesting hat to wear in the parade. A fun yoga session at Chesterton from 2:30-4pm Today we can take park in a challenging target practice game with hoops and balls, we can create Minions out of paper, see who can build the tallest skyscraper and explore Playscheme for hidden eggs. Your child will need to bring to Playscheme: • Clothing suitable for messy and water play, and spare clothing to change into when necessary (all items named please) • Coats for cold or wet days (named please) • Packed lunch (with cool pack & named) • Swimming costume & towel for swimming trips (8yrs +) • Backpack/bag that your child can use for trips • Water bottles (named) • Sunscreen Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices: For safeguarding purposes, your child will not be allowed to have a mobile phone or other electronic device with them at Playscheme. If you want to provide them with a mobile phone then this needs to be given to the staff on site to store safely. Children will be able to access it for appropriate reasons. Children aged 11 and over may sign in an electronic device and keep this in their bag, however, these are only to be used in the over 11s room or if special permission has been given.
