OUR MISSION Peace United Methodist Church reflects the light and love of Christ to all, offering compassion, community, acceptance, and hope. We promote wholeness and active service by connecting individuals and families with God and each other through worship, teaching, small groups, and needs-based ministries. OUR CORE VALUES We value connection, love, discipleship, compassion, inclusion, servanthood and stewardship. For more information on our values please visit www.peaceumcorlando.org. THE CHALLENGE As Peace United Methodist Church enters its third decade of mission and ministry, we find ourselves on the brink of a new era in our life together. Building with thanksgiving on our history, we look forward with hope and confidence to where God is leading us as a community of faith here in central Florida, and throughout the world through our United Methodist connection. We acknowledge with gratitude our members and friends whose commitments have carried us through the challenging financial times of recent years. Recently the Church Council, Trustees and Finance Committee convened a steering committee to evaluate how we can sustain our mission into God’s future. As many of you are aware, of necessity we have deferred critical maintenance and upgrades of our facility. In order for us to thrive, we must respond to these challenges. “SUSTAINING OUR MISSION” CAMPAIGN The campaign steering committee, with input from many groups within our church, has identified a list of projects that the committee believes are critical for us to grow and thrive, to attract new persons and families to join with us on our journey and to maintain our presence as one of the most diverse and dedicated faith communities in Orlando. Most importantly, we desire to live out our commitment to support God’s work here at Peace through our prayers, presence, gifts, service and witness. CAMPAIGN GOAL The goal of the campaign is to raise a minimum of $375,000 in outright gifts and pledges for projects that include: A comprehensive upgrade to our sound, lighting and video systems to enhance worship. Improved safety and visibility on our campus. Deferred maintenance items such as an aging air conditioning system, parking lot restoration and resurfacing, repainting the portico and trim, among others. 10% (a tithe) of the total received to support emerging missions beyond our walls. All the projects were chosen to allow us to move forward in ministry and appeal to a new generation of believers who we invite to join us on our faith journey. A detailed list of those projects and their estimated itemized costs may be found at www.peaceumcorlando.org. HOW DO WE GET THERE? The steering committee has established goals of: $200,000 in major gifts from church leaders. $100,000 in regularly budgeted funds that will become available after the mortgage on our property is paid off in December 2014 ($50,000 per year in 2015 and 2016). The balance in additional gifts and pledges from our members and friends. There are many paths to success. For just one example, and to see where you may fit, please visit www.peaceumcorlando.org. No gift is too small or too large. WHAT’S THE TIMELINE? Cultivation and solicitation of major gifts is underway and we are well on our way to achieving that goal. Commitment Sunday is April 6, when all our members and friends will have the opportunity to join with other donors to achieve our goals. If you are able, please consider an immediate gift. You may also consider a pledge that would typically be completed over a two to three year period. Gifts may be in the form of cash or securities. For other types of gifts, please consult with a member of the steering committee. Please prayerfully consider a gift or pledge that goes above and beyond your current giving, and join with your fellow disciples as we write the next chapter in the story of Peace United Methodist Church. “Sustaining Our Mission” Steering Committee: Cris Williams, Chair Janice and Charley Adams Gary Daniels Drew Emerson John Gordon Larry Myers Cathy and Michael Tschanz Cindy Wheatley LeeAnn Inman and Tom Wilkinson
