Youth Team Selection Policy
o The ultimate responsibility of youth team selection for any game will be with the Team Coach / Manager as well
as team strategy / tactics during the game it’s self
o
Team composition may be varied during the season based on the needs of teams and player performance and
any team players holidays which may affect player numbers required for the game. Such changes may be
agreed by coaches and team managers in consultation with the parent as and when they feel it is necessary
o
Any parent may at any time talk to the team Coach / Manager if they wish to talk about their child and his / her
ongoing development at Banbury Cricket Club. If not satisfied with the response from the Team Coach /
Manager the parent should liaise with the Chairman of the Youth Committee in the first instance or another
Officer of the Club in their absence who will adjudicate between Coach / Manager and Parent
Club Changing Policy
o This policy applies to players under the age of 16 playing in adult teams. If young players are uncomfortable
with changing or showering with adults they are advised to change and shower at home.
o
Parental consent must be given if young players are to share changing facilities with adults. You should be
aware that most changing facilities at local grounds do not have separate changing rooms for adults and
children. If young players are sharing changing facilities with adults, parents have the option to supervise them
whilst they are changing. The club will make reasonable efforts to arrange this.
o
If young player participates in adult cricket he/she will change at home / he/she can change at the club / he/she
can only change under supervision.* delete as appropriate
Matches & Practice Sessions & Collection of your Children
o You will be kept informed of cricket activities, such as timing and transport details for away matches when your
child is involved.
o
The club’s policy is that parents/carers are responsible for transporting children “To & From” all matches
and practice sessions. Where your child requires a lift, please ensure that you make suitable arrangements
with another parent/carer/responsible adult and let your coach/manager know of these arrangements..
o
The implementation of this policy is not intended to exclude any player from participation and parents or
guardians should contact the Club Welfare Officer if they have any problems with this arrangement.
Dress Code:- Playing Policy
o

White trousers, white cricket shirt, white sleeveless sweater and white trainers/boots (with spikes for damp
conditions are recommended).

White top and tracksuit bottoms/shorts with trainers should be worn in these circumstances. NO Bermuda
Shorts or flowered Polo shirts or normal leisure shoes etc will be allowed
Membership Fees Policy
o
The players membership fee is used to purchase & supply the club with the equipment, coaching and coaches
training and facilities to enable cricket activates to take place and is also subject to weather conditions which
are beyond our control and consequently membership fees are no refundable.

Code of Conduct:- Rules for Young People
Banbury Cricket Club is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members.
Banbury Cricket Club believes that it is important that members, coaches, administrators and parents/carers or
guardians associated with the club should, at all times, show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare
of others.
Therefore, members are encouraged to be open at all times and to share any concerns or complaints that they may
have about any aspect of the club with Mr Ally Jarvis, Banbury Cricket Club Welfare Officer
As a member of Banbury Cricket Club you are expected to abide by the following junior code of conduct:

All members must play within the rules and respect officials and their decisions.
 All members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of gender, ability, cultural
background or religion.
 Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team manager
if they are going to be late.
 Members must wear suitable kit –Helmet, Pads, Cricket Box, Gloves , (Thigh and Arm Pads are optional) –
for training and match sessions, as agreed with the coach/team manager and when using a Hard Cricket Ball
 Members must pay any fees for training, games or events promptly on the day.
 Junior members are not allowed to smoke on club premises or whilst representing the club at competitions.
 Junior members are not allowed to consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on the club premises or whilst
representing the club.

Code of Conduct for Cricket Club Members and Guests
All Members and Guests of Banbury Cricket Club will:

Respect the rights, dignity and worth of every person within the context of Cricket

Treat everyone equally and not discriminate on the grounds of age, gender, disability, race, ethnic origin,
nationality, colour, parental or marital status, religious belief, class or social background, sexual preference or
political belief

Not condone, or allow to go unchallenged, any form of discrimination if witnessed

Display high standards of behaviour

Promote the positive aspects of Cricket e.g. fair play

Encourage all participants to learn the Laws and rules and play within them, respecting the decisions of match
officials

Actively discourage unfair play, rule violations and arguing with match officials

Recognise good performance not just match results

Place the well-being and safety of Young People above the development of performance

Ensure that activities are appropriate for the age, maturity, experience and ability of the individual

Respect Young People’s opinions when making decisions about their participation in Cricket

Not smoke, drink or use banned substances whilst actively working with Young People in the Club.

Not provide Young People with alcohol when they are under the care of the Club

Follow ECB guidelines set out in the “Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’ and any
other relevant guidelines issued

Report any concerns in relation to a Young Person, following reporting procedures laid down by the ECB

In addition to the above, all Club Officers and Appointed Volunteers will:
1. Hold relevant qualifications and be covered by appropriate insurance
2. Always work in an open environment (i.e. avoid private or unobserved situations and encourage
an open environment)
3. Inform Players and Parents of the requirements of Cricket
4. Know and understand the ECB’s ‘Safe Hands – Cricket’s Policy for Safeguarding Children’
