An individual at the Team Member level is accountable for their own performance and contributes to team
performance. People at the Team Member level do not have any people reporting to them on a day to day
basis. This role may be required to oversee the work of staff working on particular projects from time to time.
 Position Summary
As part of the Australian Red Cross International Program, Australian Red Cross partners with other Red
Cross and Red Crescent National Societies to improve the lives of vulnerable communities. The National
Society Development Practice Lead is responsible for facilitating the National Society Development thematic
approach towards program implementation.
This includes supporting Australian Red Cross engagement with National Societies or other Red Cross Red
Crescent Movement Partners’ for the provision of advisory services to support National Societies to assess,
agree the need for, and implement change processes that improve the Society’s overall relevance,
performance and impact on the lives of vulnerable people. The role advises Australian Red Cross Regional
Managers, Country Managers, Program Leads and Response Managers in designing, resourcing, monitoring
and evaluating National Society Development initiatives, and facilitates links with other thematic areas
inclusive of Disaster Risk Management, Health and Protection Gender and Inclusion and other teams such
as Strategy and Influence and International Deployments.
 Position Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities

Facilitate the achievement of the thematic plan and supporting plans to achieve the outcomes of the
National Society Development program logic.

Promote innovative designs and provide technical advice regarding project/program designs,
resourcing, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting to influence and enhanced program outcomes.

Advise Regional Managers, Country Managers, Program Leads and Response Managers to ensure
programs are embodying good practice and learning to ensure value for money.

Maintain engagement with Australian Red Cross and Red Cross Red Crescent Movement partners –
specifically the IFRC - to identify opportunities, ways of working and keep abreast of innovative
methods to support sustainable organisational change.

Engage in the development of technical tools and resources, undertake analysis relevant to projects
including industry good practice, lessons learnt and policy changes for use in regard to
organisational development in international programs.

Build and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all members of International
Programs.

Promote and contribute to whole-of-organisational learning around program quality, effectiveness
and accountability in the field of organisational development and change.

Facilitate and support high quality quantitative and qualitative monitoring of ARC supported projects.

Establish good relations with donors, national authorities and relevant national and international
organisations at the program level as required and represent ARC as appropriate.

Work within established security frameworks.

Ensure all projects / programs managed by the Practice Lead are compliant with ARC child
protection policies.
 Position Selection Criteria
Technical Competencies

Demonstrated technical and operational experience in supporting instructional strengthening across
organizational wide systems (finance, resource mobilization, human resources, IT, reporting etc).

Strong understanding of organizational change principles and partnership approaches that enable
sustainable outcomes for stronger national societies through political, technical and financial support.

Experience of networking, relationship development and management including external partners
and stakeholders.

Demonstrated project management experience, including design, implementation, monitoring,
evaluation, stakeholder engagement and the identification of innovation and opportunities.

Excellent analytical capacity including interpersonal, negotiation and cross-cultural skills.

Ability to work creatively, resourcefully and effectively as part of a team and as a facilitator/leader as
required.

An aptitude for conducting/facilitating training sessions and/or other meetings or processes.
Qualifications/Licenses

Tertiary qualifications or experience in a relevant discipline such as international development,
humanitarian work and project management.

A Working with Children check is a mandatory requirement for this role.
