Family-school-community ties:
Part of the main game
When schools and families work together, children do better, schools improve and
communities flourish. Strengthening ties with families and community is an essential
school improvement strategy (Bryk et al, 2010). For schools to develop a coordinated
and holistic approach to family and community engagement, improvement efforts
should extend beyond the school community sphere, to all spheres of the CEOM
School Improvement Framework.
