For Immediate Release March 08, 2016 Opelousas Music & Market Series Kicks Off with Curley Taylor & Zydeco Trouble Friday, April 22 (Opelousas, LA) — On Friday, April 22, Curley Taylor and Zydeco Trouble take to the stage as Opelousas celebrates the 10th year anniversary of Music & Market! The concerts take place in historic Opelousas and continue every Friday through May 20th. The series spotlights some of Louisiana’s best musical artists and popular fresh homegrown vegetables for purchase directly from local farmers. Beverages and food will be available including smokin’ barbeque from Briskett Baskett, a favorite barbeque spot in Opelousas. The featured Louisiana product for this opening concert will be mustard greens. Farmers will provide samples and recipe ideas for this healthy, leafy vegetable. Other featured produce this season include kale, turnip, cucumbers and other farm-fresh offerings. Visitors can pick up fresh vegetables on Friday night—or during regular Farmers Market hours: Tues, Thurs and Saturday, 6:30 to 10:30 a.m. Born into a musical family, Curley began his professional career at age 16 by playing drums in his father's group, Jude Taylor and the Burning Flames, a band deep in Louisiana Blues, Soul and Zydeco. By the age of 25, Curley had played drums with some of Louisiana's musical legends, including Steve Riley, "L'il" Bob and the Lollipops, and his uncles, "L'il" Buck Senegal and Wayne "Blue" Burns. He toured with CJ Chenier, son of the "King of Zydeco" Clifton Chenier, and a Zydeco legend in his own right. While traveling with CJ Chenier's band, he became interested in playing the accordion and he learned to play within six months. Curley's soulful, bluesy vocals and the band's hard driving zydeco beat blend to create their unique style of zydeco and blues that keeps audiences dancing. It's always a party when Zydeco Trouble comes to town.
