We, the members of the Drake University Student Senate, in accordance with our duties and bylaws, do hereby pledge our
support for the organization Drake Spoon University and grant them all the rights and privileges of a full University
organization.

MOTION SS [151203] – A; Drake Spoon University Approval
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Affairs Committee (SAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, it is the duty of the Student Senate to confirm the approval of new organizations at Drake University;
2.
Whereas, Drake Spoon University has fulfilled all the necessary requirements to be an organization at Drake
University;
3.
Whereas, the purpose of Drake University Spoon University publication is to provide the Drake and Des Moines
community with high quality content related to food;
4.
Whereas, Drake University Student Senate acknowledges that Spoon University does not meet the definition of a
publication for the Board of Student Communications due to its connection with a national organization and shall
function as an organization outside the purview of the Board of Student Communications;
5.
Whereas, Drake Spoon University will be open to Drake students as a media organization and there are currently no
groups on campus with this mission available to students;
Now, therefore, be it
Moved. That Drake Spoon University be recognized as a full and official organization of the Student Senate, with all the rights
and privileges thereof.
We, the members of the Drake University Student Senate, in accordance with our duties and bylaws, do hereby pledge our
support for the organization Drake Sports Professional Network and grant them all the rights and privileges of a full University
organization.

MOTION SS [151203] – B; Drake Sports Professional Network Approval
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Affairs Committee (SAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, it is the duty of the Student Senate to confirm the approval of new organizations at Drake University;
2.
Whereas, Drake Sports Professional Network has fulfilled all the necessary requirements to be an organization at
Drake University;
3.
Whereas, the purpose of Drake Sports Professional Network is to help students develop a competitive advantage in
the sports industry;
4.
Whereas, Drake Sports Professional Network will collaborate with local community partners to provide members with
a valuable experience working in the sports industry;
5.
Whereas, Drake Sports Professional Network, will be open to all Drake students as a professional organization and
there are currently no groups on campus with this mission available to students;
Now, therefore, be it
Moved. That Drake Sports Professional Network be recognized as a full and official organization of the Student Senate, with
all the rights and privileges thereof.
We, the members of the Drake University Student Senate, in accordance with our duties and bylaws, do hereby pledge our
support for the organization Drake Stream Team and grant them all the rights and privileges of a full University organization.

MOTION SS [151203] – C; Drake Stream Team Approval
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Affairs Committee (SAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, it is the duty of the Student Senate to confirm the approval of new organizations at Drake University;
2.
Whereas, Drake Stream Team has fulfilled all the necessary requirements to be an organization at Drake University;
3.
Whereas, the purpose of Drake Stream Team is partake in Des Moines stream cleanups;
4.
Whereas, Drake Stream Team aims to provide students of Drake University the opportunity to volunteer and partake
in stream cleanups specifically on the North Walnut Creek through the Adopt-A-Stream program;
5.
Whereas, Drake Stream Team has been recognized for their efforts by local government officials;
6.
Whereas, Drake Stream Team will be open to all Drake students as a special interest organization and there are
currently no groups on campus with this mission available to students;
Now, therefore, be it
Moved. That Drake Stream Team be recognized as a full and official organization of the Student Senate, with all the rights and
privileges thereof.
We, the members of the Drake University Student Senate, in accordance with our duties and bylaws, do hereby pledge our
support for the organization Light Company and grant them all the rights and privileges of a full University organization.

MOTION SS [151203] – D; Light Company Approval
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Affairs Committee (SAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, it is the duty of the Student Senate to confirm the approval of new organizations at Drake University;
2.
Whereas, Light Company has fulfilled all the necessary requirements to be an organization at Drake University;
3.
Whereas, the purpose of Light Company as a Baptist organization is to help people know and love God and make
Him known;
4.
Whereas, Light Company is a will host weekly bible studies and events;
5.
Whereas, Light Company, will be open to all Drake students as a special interest organization and there are currently
no groups on campus with this mission available to students;
Now, therefore, be it
Moved. That Light Company be recognized as a full and official organization of the Student Senate, with all the rights and
privileges thereof.
We, the members of Drake University Student Senate, in an effort to support programming that improves student life, to better
the experience of Drake University students, and to provide a memorable experience to students, do hereby move that
$1,226.00 be allocated to the Society of Physics Students to cover tour, transportation, and lodging costs associated with
visiting the Soudan Underground Laboratory.

MOTION SS [151202] – E; Society of Physics Students
To approve the recommendation made by the Student Fees Allocation Committee (SFAC), in accordance with the Rules and
Regulations of the Drake University Student Senate.
1.
Whereas, SPS exists to help students transform themselves into contributing members of the professional
physics community;
2.
Whereas, the Soudan Underground Laboratory is an ideal place to search for and detect neutrinos;
3.
Whereas, SPS’s goal of visiting the Soudan Underground Laboratory to discover and bring back to campus both
educational and professional opportunities for not just physics students, but any interested member of the
student body;
4.
Whereas, the Soudan Underground Laboratory is located in Soudan, MN;
5.
Whereas, the tour of the laboratory is scheduled for March 6 th, 2016;
6.
Whereas, approximately 14 students will be in attendance;
7.
Whereas, the allocations are consistent with the Drake University Student Life Handbook;
Now therefore, be it:
Moved. That, Drake University Student Senate allocates $1,226.00 to the Society of Physics Students to cover tour,
transportation, and lodging costs associated with visiting the Soudan Underground Laboratory.
