Did all in 9.5 days Liz Thomas – champion athlete, speed hiker. Arrived in LA yesterday night, trying to do all 300 stairways n 4 days. Today, started 6:45 music box stairs. 110 stairways by 4PM. Like John Muir Trail to Yosemite. Establish record, then public tries to break record. Average hiker can probably do in 7 days. . National Trail Day – volunteer hikers clean up favorite trails. 1st er urban trail cleanup. Calling it the 300. Great Los Angeles Urban Hiking Trail. Through Route, all are circular. 2 Dya Walk from downtown to Girf Park celebrating public. Started when lived on Occidental traiing for a San Gabriel trip. Why not in your own neighborhood? Stairway book? 16, 2, 24, Started with SL & Echo Park. Magazine article about it. Then 1 day walk of every stairway in hyperion, riverside, hwd fwy, elysian park. Peter Shyer in Echo Park. Music & Performance. During breaks, bands playing? Camped in Music Box Steps the 1st Year (125) next year moved camping to Silver Lake Rec Center. (200 people) OK, but 3rd year, Turned down Clif Bar sponsorship, Lung Association, because is supposed to feel handmade. Next year, Music Box Steps, free pizza. No Camping, still getting community to join us at end of day. Right now, one walk per month. Photographer on route has 100s of pictures of LA no one has ever seen, dating back to 40s. This year, would like to have a slide show in potluck on Sat May 18. Postcard design. 2 bands lined up. Angel’s Flight to Mount Hollywood. Sunday Silver Lake Rec Center – 1PM – Mini Stop. 30 minutes.
