The Montgomery YMCA’s Montgomery Fire travel basketball team is looking for sponsors or raffle
items to help offset the cost of uniforms, travel, hotel, tournament fees, food and other cost
associated when traveling to tournaments in Alabama and surrounding states. Your donation is
fully tax deductible as we are a part of the Montgomery YMCA’s 501 (c) (3) status.
First and foremost the Montgomery YMCA is here to help build character, make a difference and
change lives through numerous programs and activities like our travel basketball program. It’s
donations from community leaders and businesses like yourself that help make programs affordable
for the youth that would likely not be able to participate due to socioeconomic status.
Through our travel basketball program young men in 5th- 9th grades are able to interact with
positive role models, learn how to conduct themselves as young men and learn other character
building traits that so many young men lack today.
Again, all money that is donated to the organization will go directly to offset the cost of travel and
tournament fees and you will also be provided a tax deductible letter from the Montgomery YMCA
because of our 501 (c) (3) status.
The Montgomery Fire is requesting your financial sponsorship of its 2015-16 season. We are
sending our information now as we know a number of annual donors are in the midst of making
donations due to a new physical year or making plans as to what parties they will give gifts to in
the next few months. Our organization consists of youth ages 9-15. During the season, the teams
practice two to three times per week, host local tournaments and development camps, and
participate in various tournaments within and outside the state of Alabama. The teams also
participate in fundraising projects to support our organization, and in various community service
activities to promote civic involvement and charity. The season culminates with the teams
participating in a national level tournament which takes place in July each year. We normally
attempt to have the organization participate in 8 to 10 events during the season and have to fund
5 teams for each event which is approximately 55 to 60 young men in total.

Your sponsorship will assist with the costs for practice space, uniforms, equipment, tournament
fees, transportation, hotel and lodging, food, and costs associated with sponsoring tournaments,
camps and other fundraising events. In return for your support and with your consent, The
Montgomery Fire will recognize your sponsorship on our webpage. Based upon your level of
sponsorship, we will: display your name or company name on banners at all events sponsored by
our organization as well as at the Bell Road YMCA; promote your company by placing your logo on
equipment, uniforms, and event flyers; and reference your company in magazine articles, emails,
and materials distributed during our events (see levels of sponsorship in the following pages).
The organizers, parents and coaches of The Montgomery Fire recognize the fact that the public and
policymakers have long believed that structured extracurricular activities can keep children out of
trouble. In fact, a report by the American Youth Policy Forum supports this belief by citing research
that shows that after-school youth development programs for at-risk children hold promise for
reducing juvenile crime. This is why the mission of The Montgomery Fire is to encourage character,
good citizenship and academic achievement while keeping the boys engaged in an enjoyable
recreational activity within a safe environment.

General Information
Montgomery Fire is a 501(c)(3) non-profit youth basketball organization that promotes athletic
opportunities for boys 9-15 in Montgomery, Alabama and the Southeast region. We believe
athletes learn life lessons and develop skills through sports that they can then apply to everyday
situations.
Your gift of $250.00 sponsors the entry fees for one team for one local tournament.
Your gift of $500.00 sponsors the entry fees and hotel for one team for one out-of-state
tournament.
Your gift of $750.00 sponsors one child in the basketball club for one year.
Your gift of $1,000.00 sponsors new uniforms for one team for one year.
Your gift of $2,500.00 sponsors uniforms to include, shooting shirts, shoes, socks, warm-ups,
bags, and Coach’s shirt for one team.
Your gift of $3,000.00 sponsors all of the tournaments fees for one team for about ten
tournaments.
Your gift of $5,000.00 sponsors the tournament fees, transportation, lodging and meals, for one
team to attend a National Championship Tournament in July, which takes place in Orlando, FL or
Myrtle Beach, SC.
Your gift of $10,000.00 sponsors the tournament fees, transportation, lodging and meals, for
two teams for the National Championship Tournament in July, which takes place in Orlando, FL or
Myrtle Beach, SC.
