Burbank, Calif., July 2008 – A new “Steril-Zone™” room air purifier that uses an innovative
three-stage process to clean the air in rooms up to 1,000 sq. ft. is now available from Steril-Aire,
Inc. Safe and ozone-free, the portable air purifier is the first to incorporate the company’s multipatented and award-winning “UVC Emitter™” to clean the air of bacteria, mold and viruses. The
UVC lamp combines with a high efficiency air filter and long-life carbon filter to remove all
three categories of indoor air pollutants and irritants: particulates, volatile organic compounds
(VOCs) and microorganisms – for healthier indoor environments.
Steril-Zone’s germicidal UVC energy eliminates the spread of infectious organisms more
successfully than air purifiers without UV lamps – even those with HEPA filters, which have
only limited effectiveness against viruses, the tiniest of parasites. The compact but powerful unit
also reduces or eliminates symptoms of allergies, asthma and other maladies triggered by
biological contaminants and VOCs – a common problem for seniors and others with
compromised immune systems. It is ideal for waiting rooms in medical and dental offices and
clinics, and for living and gathering areas in senior residences, hospices, nursing homes,

A patented germicidal UVC Emitter effectively cleans the air of mold, bacteria and viruses.

An activated carbon filter delivers reliable VOC and odor removal for longer periods than
competitive filtration devices. The UVC lamp is specially positioned to improve the carbon
activity, extending carbon filter service life.

A 95% efficiency (MERV 16) pleated filter removes particulate contaminants down to 0.3
micron in size, without using ionization or electrostatic charges.

A commercial-grade quiet fan moves the air at 250 cfm with an air exchange rate of up to
five changes per hour in an average room, providing the air flow needed to achieve optimum
purification. This superior air movement enables the unit to exceed the cleaning capacity of
most room air purifiers. One Steril-Zone air cleaner can do the job of two or three
competitive products, saving money and energy.

The three-stage air cleaning unit is concealed from view until it is time for replacement,
typically after one year. Changeout is quickly accomplished by taking out the old filter unit
and dropping in the new one, replacing all three components (particulate filter, carbon filter
and UVC lamp) at once. There is no need for tools, no washing of filters, and no complicated
disassembly or servicing of separate components.
Steril-Zone features a lightweight, attractive, neutral-colored design that blends with any décor
and measures just 13.5" W x 15" D x 21" H (5.3 cm x 5.9 cm x 8.27 cm). The product carries a
