Section-04: Success Stories A Journey of Passion to Action, Intrinsic motivation of a volunteer community based teacher, way forward for access to education to girls Intrinsic motivation and strong passion towards development has its own impact. Ms. Aneela Rajpar, motivated and committed community based teacher from village Wadi Wahani, District Larkana is an example of this gifted quality. The CMP team explored this passionate teacher during the field visit to her village, which consists of 300 households. During visit team found that School has been closed since last three years due to government appointed teacher absenteeism. The CMP met with community and informed them that Aneela Rajpar, in her classroom distributing giveaways to newly enrolled girl student. the state of the art school is going to be constructed under USAID funded SBEP but community needs to take proactive measures and functioning the existing school. As the result of the meeting community decided to run the school with the help of volunteer teacher till Education Department ensure the regular teachers, during that meeting, a young woman Aneela, raised her hand volunteering to serve as teacher. She turned her enthusiasm into action by bringing 70 out of school girls and ensured that they and other 60 already enrolled girls get access to education. She never allowed her family’s economic condition to become a limiting factor in her work, although she and her parents prefer that she becomes a regular paid teacher. Besides teaching, Aneela participates in CMP’s programs, like; Enrollment Campaign and School Improvement Plan formation. Community members, especially women, are happy that Aneela took initiative and enabled girls to attend school. “Now girls feel safe because they get an education and attention from a female teacher and we as mothers feel the sense of protection for our daughters.” Shared by the mother of an enrolled child. Aneela shared, “In starting, it was very difficult to convince parents to enroll their girls and I had to literally go door to door, but once few parents enrolled then it became easy for others to follow the trend.” 18 | SBEP-Monthly Progress Report-May, 2016 Courage to accept the challenge An extraordinary show of strength and perseverance was shown by four female participants as they were not fluent with basic digital skills. Initially they decided to leave the session on day 1, but, due to strong will power and commitment they became able to overcome the challenges and stood at par with others at the end of day 5, with the resolve to continue practicing the newly learned skills and bringing them up to the standard to become a master trainer within a week’s time. . I was completely unaware about the terms of Hardware and my hands felt stiff and crippled while trying to hold on to the mouse. But on the second day, I grew comfortable and with continuous practice in a few days I made progress on Ms word and how to prepare time table formats.
