THE ROYAL ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTE OF SCOTLAND
Introductory, Elementary and Intermediate Food Hygiene Courses
E Learning System
An increasing number of Approved Training Centres wish to offer the Introductory,
Elementary and the Intermediate Food Hygiene Courses by e learning as an alternative
method of delivery.
REHIS e learning packs are now available and the following guidance is for Centres wishing
to offer the courses by e learning.

All three courses are available in CD ROM format and the Introductory and
Elementary courses are also available through the web. All formats require a licence
which lasts for one year. Packs and licences are only available through the Institute.

Only REHIS provisionally approved or approved Centres can deliver the e learning
courses. The Intermediate Course regulations require a team to deliver the taught
course. This regulation does not apply to the e learning course as Centres are only
required to provide a registered presenter as tutor support.

The relevant REHIS e learning pack must be used and candidates must sit the REHIS
standard examination in order to gain the Certificate.

Centres must provide tutor support for the candidates.

Candidates must pass all the modules in the e learning pack in order to obtain the
examination permit at the end of the course. In the case of the non examined
Introduction to Food Hygiene Course the permit is used to request a Certificate of
Attendance

A copy of the permit must be sent to REHIS, along with an examination registration
form, before the candidate can sit the examination.

Centres are required to arrange the examination time and venue and the examination
must be carried out under the same strict examination conditions as the taught courses.

Candidates have unlimited access to the programme for one year.

User guides are provided with the e learning packs.
