Know Before You
Pokémon GO
With the increasing popularity of Niantic’s
newest app-based, augmented reality game,
where players take on the role of Pokémon
trainers, we want to remind our customers to
stay safe while trying to "catch ‘em all."
Follow the simple safety tips below as you
“travel across the land, searching far and
wide.”
Don’t let Pokémon Go LURE you into
restricted areas like train yards or bus garages
or onto train tracks. Always be aware of your
surroundings and do not trespass.
 Pokémon can survive a battle with a train;
you can’t. When battling inside some of the
many gyms located near our stations, please
remember to stay a safe distance away from
the tracks.
Don’t be a SLOWPOKE and hold up any
commuter traffic when trying to catch a
Pokémon. Keep your head up and your phone
down until you are safely seated onboard
a bus, train or light rail vehicle. Then by all
means, catch it!
Always maintain your INSTINCT and
VALOR when playing the game. Be aware
of your surroundings at all times and follow
these simple safety tips so you accomplish the
goal of being the very best Pokémon trainer!
Attention

NJ TRANSIT Increasing Light Rail Capacity
Ten years ago, NJ TRANSIT celebrated a new
phase of economic revitalization for the State’s
largest city with the opening of Newark Light
Rail’s (NLR) Broad Street Extension. This critical
addition connected Newark Penn Station and
Newark Broad Street Station, expanding travel
options throughout
the region.
The NLR extension
provides fast
and convenient
service to Newark’s
downtown
business district
and entertainment
venues, such as
the New Jersey
Performing Arts
Center and The
Newark Museum. The service has been so
successful, that NJ TRANSIT recently rolled
out the first of 10 expanded light rail vehicles,
providing customers with 50 percent more
seating and a more comfortable ride.

Twenty-five expanded light rail cars are also
coming to Hudson-Bergen Light Rail, including
one already operating on the system. NJ TRANSIT
partnered with its original vehicle manufacturer
to create an innovative, cost-effective solution
that would not significantly impact the HudsonBergen Light Rail
or Newark Light
Rail infrastructure,
or require a costly
investment in new
rail cars. Kinkisharyo
International, LLC
came up with the
simple and elegant
design using existing
resources and spare
equipment.
These capacity
improvements on both light rail systems were
advanced based on customer feedback through
our quarterly Scorecard surveys. We hope you
enjoy the ride!

Adopt-a-Station
A clean train station, pride-filled residents
and blooming flowers are the reasons why
the Garden Club of Spring Lake received
this year’s NJ Clean Communities Award for
Stewardship of
Public Lands.
The volunteer
organization has
been an active
participant in
NJ TRANSIT's
Adopt-A-Station
program for 10
years, providing
landscaping
improvements
at Spring Lake Station and the adjacent Potter
Park. As a result of their expertise in beautiful
gardening and design, our customers enjoy
a picturesque welcome to the North Jersey
Coast Line station while their work is greatly
appreciated by NJ TRANSIT and their
community!
Promoting civic pride and community
involvement, our Adopt-A-Station

local community group, business or group
of individuals who want to help NJ TRANSIT
beautify the train station in your community,

be performed.
NJ TRANSIT will provide trash bags, safety
vests and dispose of any trash that is collected.
