Dear Families and Friends of Christ Lutheran School,
For the first time this school year, we have Christ Lutheran students singing in church on Sunday. In
fact, our entire school will be singing together during both worship services. What a blessing it is to hear our
young people sing God’s praises through special hymns and songs they learn together in school. We look
forward to “Shine, Jesus, Shine” this Sunday.
Thank you, parents, for working with us as we teach our children the importance of singing our Lord’s
praises! May God bless the efforts of our student body as they give Him their gift of a song.
Now, the news…
A few weeks ago, we told you about Caroline, Madison, Dan and Cory qualifying
for the Wisco Spelling Bee. Please add to that list fifth grader Nellie Smith – our fifth
qualifier for the bee! Congratulations and good luck, Nellie! We hope you enjoy your
spelling bee experience!
Thank you for all your help and cooperation with picture day last Monday. All went well. Our
photographer was very impressed with the friendly, well-behaved Christ Lutheran kids! You can look for your
picture packages (if you made a purchase) in a few weeks.
Our standardized testing in grades three through eight is underway and should wrap-up next week.
Although you won’t find many of our students who say these tests are “fun,” we do appreciate what great
attitudes they have in taking them! Please look for results in late October or early November.
Don’t forget about hot lunch this Friday! Your child ordered and paid earlier this
week. Enjoy another “don’t pack a lunch” day here at Christ Lutheran School!
Please find attached today an October Scrip order. The due date for this order is
the morning of Monday, October 6th. We appreciate the support you show for our school
by using Scrip!
Our first CLSCMS Club meeting is in the books. We enjoyed a fascinating dissection of owl pellets.
Our next meeting is Monday, October 27th. Topic information will be coming home in future newsletters. A
thank you to all the kids who attended – and a reminder that all 5th – 8th graders are welcome to join us!
Christ Lutheran School is now a subscriber to a program called United Streaming. This program offers
us a chance to access thousands and thousands of educational videos via the internet. Math topics, stories from
history, science experiments, dramatic presentations and more are available – and are accessed through our
classroom computers or in our computer lab. We feel that with United Streaming we will be able to offer our
students a “view” of their lessons they may have not been able to see in the past. Feel free to stop in for a
demonstration – perhaps a demonstration that will also utilize our new SMARTBOARDS! Exciting times are
upon us here at CLS!
Our Wisco Vikings football team (ranked 8th in the state among all high
schools) will take on the Hartford Orioles (ranked 7th in the state) this Friday night at
7:00 P.M. The game will be played at the Wisconsin Lutheran College field located
just off Watertown Plank Road. For fans of high school football, this should be a great
game! The evening will also feature the Wisco band, dance team and cheerleaders.
Consider being part of the Friday night lights and come help cheer on the Wisco
Vikings!
When we last shared news about our Crusader cross country team, we spoke of our team’s great
showing at the Star of Bethlehem meet, with Hannah Weide’s win and Alex Erickson’s second place finish
making the headlines! Since that time, our team has run in two more meets and has done very, very well!
Hannah added another first place to her season, winning at Lannon,
while Alex not only won his last two races, but set two course
records in doing so! Congratulations Crusader cross country
runners! Keep up the great work. (By the way, last evening our
team ran at St. Paul’s Lutheran in Muskego. We apologize for not
having result information available at press time.)
On the hardwood, our Crusader volleyball teams have been
nothing short of dazzling! Both our “A” squad and “B” squad are undefeated, posting wins over St. John’s / St.
Paul’s Mukwonago and Holy Trinity Lutheran in Okauchee. This afternoon and evening our girls host our
friends from CTL in Brookfield in what should prove to be some awesome volleyball! Join us!
Upcoming Crusader events include:
Coed Soccer Tomorrow – Vernon Town Hall Fields (4:00 P.M.)
Volleyball on the Road – Tuesday, September 29th
Volleyball at Home – Thursday, October 2nd
The Wisco Cross Country Meet – Wednesday, October 1st
GOOD LUCK TO ALL OUR CRUSADER ATHLETES AND TEAMS!
That Will Do It For This Time! Have A Great Week!
God’s Blessings To You All!
