Newstetter ([email protected]) Assistant Dean for Educational Research and Innovation College of Engineering, Georgia Institute of Technology This workshop is designed to bring you into the world of problem based learning (PBL), which has its origins in US medical education, but has been adapted to engineering education. At Georgia Tech, they have developed a problem-based learning curriculum in their Department of Biomedical Engineering, that has been adopted by Peking University in China and Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi. This summer, they are partnering with Tokyo Tech to develop a collaborative educational program in sustainable development that brings Georgia Tech and Tokyo Tech students together to take on significant problems in global sustainability and development.
