My summer has been filled with baseball, baseball, T-ball, and a little hockey just to mix things up. My boys and I already kicked off the summer with a wonderful, relaxing week at the beach in the Outer Banks. Since then, the focus has been getting our class schedule together to have great classes, blocks of the month, and sewing opportunities for you this fall. On Saturday, August 18th we will have our Fall New Class Open House so you can see the new samples and register for classes. You will receive a 15% off discount on all supllies purchased for classes on this day. Many of the teachers will be on-site to answer questions regarding their class and help you pick out fabrics. Saturday, September 29th will bring DEMO DAZE to Stitch. From 11-2 you will participate in 6 mini class demos, eat, and have fun. Get a few friends together and enjoy this lovely fall day. We are now open every Sunday from noon until 4. The third Sunday of the month free open sewing is available in our classroom space. Get here early, as space is limited to approximately 10 sewers. Taking Intro to Garment Sewing is a pre-requisite before taking any beginner, intermediate, or advanced classes, unless you can demonstrate your basic sewing knowledge to be able to skip this class. All garment sewing classes require the student to arrive at class with pattern cut out and ready to begin sewing. Intro to Garment Sewing If you have never sewn a garment, transferred a pattern to fabric, and cut it out, this is a must have class. In fact, we are making it a prerequisite before taking the beginning garment sewing classes. Pattern reading, understanding the grainline, transferring a pattern, and cutting it out will be discussed and demonstrated. Various types of fabric and sewing notions will also be shown. The simple halter styling is close fitting and cut on the bias. Facings, elastic, and casings are all part of the construction. The construction is fairly simple. You will be required to come to class with the pattern pieces and interfacing cut out and ready to sew. Stunning designs for art and durable rugs can be made for use in your home. Beginners to advanced rug hookers are always welcome. Instructor: Cindi Gay Dates: 8/25, 10/20, 11/17, 12/8 10-12:30 Cost: $25 Quilting Classes at Stitch Basic Machine Piecing B We start at the very beginning teaching you how to fold fabric, cut, sew a 1/4” seam allowance, press correctly, do basic machine quilting, and attach binding with mitered corners. After this class, you will be prepared to tackle more difficult quilting patterns. Hand applique is a relaxing, portable sewing art. Join Baby Lock Educator, Kathy Stipe, for a fun filled hands-on class to make a mystery project. BERNINA machines have a 20 year warranty and Baby Lock machines have a 25 year limited warranty. Brian Meyer is our on-site, full-time certified technician on both of these brands. We do service all brands of sewing machines. Maintaining Your Sewing Machine This is a free class on Saturday, November 3rd at 12:00 to discuss general maintenance, tips and tricks, and overall care of your sewing machine. Brian Meyer, our full-time Baby Lock and BERNINA technician will be your guide! Embroidered Quilt Lables We will make a customized quilt label for you for $35. You need only provide the text you would like embroidered with payment. The turnaround time is one week. 6 styles will soon be available to choose from and will be posted on our website. Personal Sewing Classes If you would like some personal attention while learning to sew a garment, quilt, or other project, you can always request a one-on-one class.
