State Representative Position Description Job Title: State Representative - Queensland Department: Community Engagement Purpose: The role of the State Representative is to build strong relationships between BWAA and churches in Queensland, working to help them develop a biblical response to poverty and to utilise BWAA as a partner in doing so. The State Representative also maintains ongoing relationships with major donors, bequestors and other key supporters. Reports to: Team Manager Key Relationships: Internal - State Representative Team, Marketing and Supporter Engagement External – Pastors, Church contacts, State leaders and Supporters Supervises: May supervise local church contacts and other state-based volunteers Hours per Week: 35 hours over 5 days, often including Sunday Main Activities Foster strong relationships between BWAA and Baptist churches Meet with pastors and other key Queensland Baptist (QB) leaders to build their awareness of God's call to serve people living in poverty and recruit them to engage with BWAA as a vehicle by which they and their church serve people living in poverty. Service existing relationships with churches through maintenance of personal relationships with pastors and other key leaders, consultancy services around local church engagement with people living in poverty, conducting workshops on poverty related issues, teaching on poverty related issues, helping churches access BWAA resources and the like; Recruit, train and support church-based contacts who will promote a biblical response to poverty in their home churches and BWAA as a vehicle for serving people living in poverty. Foster strong positive relationships between key church leaders and BWAA including but not limited to QB leadership team, pastors of major churches and advocacy groups (Catalyst). Maintain positive relationships with key supporters such as major donors, bequestors, Catalyst leaders and church contacts, working to help them feel appreciated and involved and providing them with required input, resourcing and support. Achieve Engagement Targets Ensure engagement targets including deputations, income, advocacy and church participation in BWAA campaigns are met.
