Let’s now talk about the scope of the lighting section of the IECC.
Section C405 of the code covers:
•Lighting system controls,
•The connection of ballasts,
• the maximum lighting power for interior applications and
•The minimum acceptable lighting equipment for exterior applications
However, lighting within dwelling units of high rise projects where at least 50% of the permanently installed luminaires (not counting low voltage lighting) are fitted with ‘high‐
efficacy’ lamps is exempted from this section.
Exceptions to individual clauses will be discussed with those clauses.
