Soft play policy
Soft play is a useful apparatus for children at Comfort Angelz Day care to enhance and
challenge their physical abilities.
Children safety is paramount at all times and to ensure the safety of each child is secure
staff need to adhere to supervision, ratios and risk assessments at all times.
Food or drink is prohibited in any area of soft play.
Before using soft play the room leader of each room needs to complete a risk assessment
and notify management of any potential hazards or damages.
When staff bring a group into soft play need to ensure all children’s and staffs shoes are
removed and put in the appropriate labelled box, before children go into the soft play
entrance they need make certain that at least one member of staff has moved up to the 3rd
level and the remaining staff position themselves on each level one being at the end of the
slide if children are predominantly using the slide.
If staff need to leave the soft play area whilst the children are still playing i.e. toileting or
attending an accident or speaking to parents they need to inform the staff in soft play so
staff can re position themselves to the areas used frequently. ( communication is vital)
Two staff can never leave soft play at the same time and there always needs to be three
members of staff on there if all levels are in use.
When babies and toddlers are using the ground floor please ensure a member of staff is
around the far entrance to the gate and are aware of people coming in and out.
Staffs needs to assess and police the levels moving accordingly with the groups of children.
Remember to supervise at all times and never sit in one position.
If there are any significant damages or hazards the manager or deputy needs to inform the
Director and an action plan will be completed immediately an area that is needing
maintenance depending on the position severity may be able to be in use.
