BIFA FREIGHT SERVICE AWARDS 2014
PREPARATION OF SUBMISSIONS - GUIDELINES FOR ENTRANTS
To compete for a BIFA Freight Service Award you need to prepare a written submission describing a
project or service relating to the category you have entered whilst following the Contents format and
guidelines below. The following copies of your submission need to be supplied:

1 master copy. This must be prepared in the ring binder provided with 1-8 section dividers.
Please 4 hole-punch the content sheets when putting them into the ring binder, and do not
laminate, or use punched plastic pockets (unless the 4 punch holes will eliminate some content)
NB. If you do not have a 4 hole puncher, the loose pages can be left loose for BIFA to punch

3 photocopies, preferably in colour. These should be collated and secured with paper clips,
bulldog-clips, or with clip folders or clear plastic wallets, but left unbound.
Please do not hole-punch, staple, laminate, comb/wire/heat-bind the 3 photocopies supplied.

Deadline:
All submissions must be returned to BIFA by Friday 10th October 2013 (5.00pm)
Length:
Submissions should not exceed 2,000 words in length. Note. this word count excludes
headings, photo captions, and any optional 'Appendices' supplied in section 8.


A brief introduction of your company and the services it offers.
2.

Executive Summary
Provide a 100 word (maximum) overview of the project or service, describing the main aims and
achievements. Note. BIFA may use this text in post-event publicity material if you are a winner.

Details of the Project/Service
Describe how you developed the project or service, any changes you made within your company,
and what engagement you had with customers and staff in its planning and execution
Methodology adopted to achieve your aims and objectives
Implementation of any new processes
Involvement of relevant partners and/or sub-contractors.
Overall project or service outcome

Benefits for your Customer/s
Details of benefits achieved from the project/service (eg. service enhancements and cost savings)
Were you able to measure the benefits, and if so how?
Customer satisfaction levels.

Benefits achieved for your Company
Details of benefits achieved from the project/service (eg. increased knowledge and/or profitability)
Were you able to measure the benefits, and if so how?

Conclusion
A short statement outlining why you believe your project or service represents an example of
excellence in the freight forwarding and logistics sector.

Your company’s contact details (name, address, tel. no., email address, and website) plus the
name, job title, and direct tel. no. and email address of the person responsible for the submission.

Appendices (optional – a maximum of 10 pages is recommended)
Supporting documents eg. numerical charts, graphs, photographs, report copies etc
Judging: The Judging Panel will score submissions giving consideration to the following six criteria:
 Innovative approach and ideas

Benefits for the Customer
 Service enhancements offered

Benefits for the Company
 Clarity, and quality of the presentation 
Judges' overview
Submissions will be treated in strictest confidence by BIFA and the Judging Panel.
