The Iota Pi graduate chapter (Grand Rapids, Michigan) of Omega Psi Phi
Fraternity, Inc. invites you to join them in a morning of golf, fellowship and
service. The eleventh annual Dr. Charles R Drew scholarship golf outing
will be held on Saturday June 20, 2009 at 8am.
You and your team are invited to play in a four person scramble at Quail
Ridge, one of Grand Rapids premiere golf courses.
In addition to participating in this year’s event you can show your support by
becoming one of our many sponsors. As noted in the attached application;
sponsorship opportunities range from Title Sponsor to Friends Sponsor each
offering you the flexibility to show your support.
Corporate and individual sponsors, arranged by the Iota Pi graduate chapter
(Grand Rapids, Michigan) of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity will make
contributions in the name of each winner, giving golfer the satisfaction of
sweet victory and making a valuable contribution to our community.
The outing package includes practice privileges, 18 holes of golf, a power
cart, lunch and dinner. The price is $100 per person or $400 per foursome.

Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. is an organizational Brotherhood consisting
of 750 chapters and approximately 20,000 active members throughout the
world. The fraternity is a historically Black fraternal organization that
provides and promotes programs of social, cultural and economic uplift to
the communities we serve.
For almost a century, we have recruited, trained and deployed men of color
for leadership roles in service to humanity. Our social action programs touch
the lives of hundreds of thousands of families and individuals each year.
Whether our efforts result in entertaining an audience, educating a group of
young people; or simply helping those in need, we have developed a
reputation for delivering programs and projects that make a difference in the
lives of those we serve.
Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc. was founded on the four cardinal principles:
Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and Uplift. Our members locally and
nationally are bound to live by and exemplify these principles in their
everyday lives. One such member whose life epitomized our cardinal
principles was that of Dr. Charles R. Drew. Dr. Drew’s strong desire to
help mankind through medicine-drove him to perfect the use of blood
plasma, a medical tool that we use everyday and has saved countless lives
worldwide.
Dr. Charles Richard Drew (June 3, 1904 – April 1, 1950) was an American
physician and medical researcher. He researched in the field of blood
transfusions, developing improved techniques for blood storage, and applied
his expert knowledge in developing large-scale blood banks early in World
War II.
