You have 60 days from the date of this notice to claim your property. Failure to claim the articles within 60 days will
result in the disposal of the property. If you are unable to retrieve your property, you must notify the Sacramento
Police Department Evidence &-Property Section in writing to hold the property and name an authorized person to retrieve
the property.

Found property will be held for 90 days. Ifat the end ofthe 90 days the property is not claimed or returned to the rightful
owner, the finder may claim the property by calling the Sacramento Police Department Evidence & Property Section.
Evidence
Evidence items, except firearms, must be claimed within 30 days of the conclusion of your case.

A report of the confiscation of these items will be given to the City Attorney's Office ifit is believed that the return of the
firearm(s) would likely result in harm to you or others. In that case, the City Attorney's Office may file a petition in
Superior Court. A notice of your right to a hearing and a copy of the petition will be mailed to you at the address you
provided to the police.
Return of Firearm - CA Penal Code 33850-33875 & 34000:
In order to claim your firearm, you must apply to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) for a background check.
An application form is available at www.ag.ca.gov/firearms.
You can contact DOJ at 916-227-7527 for a form or if you
have any questions. It may take up to 30 days or longer to process your application. Write the report number and the
police address on your application to DOJ. Your weapon is being held by the Sacramento Police Department Evidence &
Property Section, 555 Sequoia Pacific Boulevard, Sacramento, CA, 95811.
Do not submit an application
to DOJ until notified your firearm is ready for release.
