Recreation New Brunswick would like to announce a unique and exciting opportunity for a
skilled and experienced individual to lead our thriving not-for-profit organization. The
Executive Director’s position requires an individual with a passion for recreation and active
living, to advocate on behalf of a diverse membership. You will be responsible for all of the
organization’s operations while providing leadership in advancing Recreation NB’s vision
and mission. The Executive Director will focus on building productive and beneficial
relationships with partners and stakeholders at the local, provincial and national level. You
will be working closely with RNB’s Board of Directors to guide our strategic plan and set
organizational priorities. The Executive Director will provide leadership to the association
by responding to the needs and demands of the membership, enhancing the level of
advocacy for the sector and representing the organization.
Specific Responsibilities:
 Maintaining the organization’s high level of performance
 Supporting and advancing the mission and vision of the association
 Providing input into the strategic direction of RNB as well as developing and
executing operational plans to deliver on the determined strategic plan and annual
priorities
 Building a strong relationship with the Board to support effective governance
 General oversight of all operations with the ability to perform all functions on an as
needed basis
 Maintaining the collaborative relationship with members through strong
membership services and consistent communication
 Planning and implementing annual conferences and professional development
opportunities for the membership








Representing RNB on various committees and working groups throughout the
sector
Developing and maintaining partnerships between the recreation and parks sector
and other key sectors including health, education, social services, etc
Conducting a comprehensive annual budget process under the direction of the
Board and Treasurer
Leading and evaluating a dedicated team of employees
Implementing policies and procedures to ensure a high level of conduct
Serving as a key point of contact for the organization
Generating operational revenue through a range of sources including memberships,
sponsorships, foundations, governments, etc.
Administering programs and services that provides New Brunswickers the
opportunity to experience recreation, and help build a happier, healthier province
Essential Qualifications:
 Post-secondary degree/diploma in Recreation, Leisure Studies, Social Sciences or
other relevant area of study; supplemented by significant management experience
within the not-for-profit or public sectors.
 Insight and appreciation for recreation’s role as a critical pillar for quality of life and
wellbeing, and a thorough understanding of the provincial and community
recreation delivery systems.
Preference will be given to candidates that demonstrate proficiency in the following core

Other requirements:
 Excellent public-speaking and group facilitation skills
 Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
 Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
 Frequent travel within and outside the province
 Working beyond normal business hours that includes attending evening and
weekend meetings
 A valid driver’s license


