Year two

Teaching assistant: Ms Williams- every
morning and Monday PM.
Mrs Gillard will be taking the class for PE
on Thursday (alternative AM and PM)
Doors open at 8.45am and close at 8.55am. Please
make sure you are prompt.
The children will be coming in through the
middle door on the playground.
Children should enter the classroom
independently, please stay outside.
Morning Checklist - Children hang their
belongings on their peg, put their water
bottles in the basket, put their book bag in
their tray.
Start on a morning activity straight away.
PE for Foxes takes place on Monday, Tuesday
and Thursday. Please make sure your child
has their PE kit in school.
Children should not wear earrings on PE days,
or they need to be able to remove the
earrings themselves.
Long hair must be tied back, please make
ensure they have a hair band if necessary.
Plimsolls will be needed.
PE kit in a drawstring bag rather than a
rucksack.
Everything named.
All infant school children are now entitled
to a free school meal. As last, your child
can order their lunch in the mornings or
you can pre-order for them online.
All the information you need is on the
website under ‘Parent Information’.
We encourage children to bring a named
‘sports cap’ bottle containing water to
drink every day. Please do not send squash
or juice.
Milk is available at fruit time, if you would
like your child to have milk, please sign
up.
Year 2 requirements are more challenging in the
new National Curriculum.
A reminder that the children may stay on the
same colour reading books for longer to ensure
greater depth of understanding.
1,2, etc.
Your child may change their book whenever
they have finished reading it at home.
It is your child’s responsibility to change
their book and you might like to remind
them that they can change it once it is
finished as they sometimes forget!
Reading Record - please record when you have
read anything with your child at home.
Library on Fridays - books need to be
returned within 3 weeks. Reminder notes
will be sent and parents may be asked to
pay up to £5 to replace lost books.
Communication Books sent home every Friday.
Summarises the week’s learning.
Your child will write a target each week for
something they would like to improve upon the
following week.
Please look at these with your child, there is
space for you to write any comments.
Home learning grids will be sent home at the
beginning of each term.
Ginger is our class “pet”!
He will be sent home regularly.
He is a reward for special work.
Each child will get a turn to take him home.
Your child will be asked to tell us all about
his adventures in a diary which comes
home in his bag.
Please ensure your child uses a pencil,
cursive handwriting and correct
punctuation.
Please do not enter the playground before 3.10pm.
The children will be leaving through the middle
door on the playground.
We will not allow a child to go with another adult
(or child) unless it has been previously
arranged with us, or the office have been
informed. If you have forgotten, the school will
phone you to confirm.
Please wait until your child has indicated that
they have seen you, I’m still learning some of
your faces –o a wave will help!
Please do not allow your child on the playground
apparatus before or after school.
If waiting for Junior School children, please do
not stand in the road or let children play near
the cars.
Prescribed medicines are only administered with parental
consent. Forms at the office.
Please do not allow your child to bring in toys.
Headlice are an ongoing problem, please be vigilant.
Please ensure all emergency contact details are up to date.
We ask that children wear appropriate shoes with closed toes
and laces or velcro fastenings.
All children need a coat every day.
Please do not take holidays in term time.
Do not drive into school unless picking up early.

Mornings are always busy.
I’m available most days after school and can make an
appointment with you to discuss any matters or
concerns.
Similarly I will contact you if we have any concerns
or queries regarding your child.
Finally, if you’d like to help out at school, you are
most welcome!

school - please contact the office for details.
