hand portable oxygen equipment. As part of this free service, the Lung Foundation:

Introduces potential buyers and sellers of oxygen equipment
Provides the following guide designed to protect buyers and sellers of oxygen equipment.
It is important to note that Lung Foundation Australia takes no responsibility for proof of ownership, state of
repair or condition of any equipment bought/sold. At no time does the Lung Foundation inspect equipment.
It is the sole responsibility of the buyer to ensure the proof of ownership, state of repair or condition of the
equipment and the suitability of the equipment to their needs. Lung Foundation Australia provides this
information as a guide only. Any prospective buyer and seller should satisfy themselves and obtain their
own advice on the terms of the sale prior to completing any transaction.
Information for sellers of portable oxygen equipment
The following are steps we suggest you take prior to listing your equipment for sale with the Lung Foundation.
q Develop list of product specifications, including
make of equipment
model number
hours of use
date of manufacture / purchase
warranty details including specified service interval, expiration date and transferability of warranty
q Ensure your service record is up to date and available to pass on to a purchaser
q Develop a list of what is included in the sale price. Does the sale include carrier bag? Spare battery?
q C omplete and sign the form overleaf and return it to the Lung Foundation by fax 07 3368 3564 or
post to Lung Foundation Australia, PO Box 1949, Milton, QLD 4064.
Information for buyers of portable oxygen equipment
q Check with your doctor to ensure the equipment in question is appropriate to your needs
q Check status of warranty and whether it is transferable
q If you purchase second hand equipment, it must be taken to the supplier with a copy of your prescription
to ensure the settings are safely adjusted to the flow rate you require
q Check what is included with the purchase price, ie battery, adaptors, carrier bags?
q Check with supplier of equipment about availability of servicing near to you.
q Obtain a copy of the service record and the manufacturer’s specified service interval.
