The following guidelines should be adhered to when applying for a GNKHU record:



Fish caught by means of rod and reel at rock and surf venues will qualify. No fish caught in rivers are eligible.
Only 2 single hooks, or 1x treble hooks may be used.
All fish must be landed by the angler applying for the record. No assistance during the fight may be afforded to the angler,
with the exception of the landing of the fish by means of a gaff. (Assistance = touching rod, reel, or line prior to landing of
fish).
The following items have to accompany the application and are compulsory:


1x photos clearly reflecting all fins spread out. For sharks – 3x close-up photos taken from different angles are required
showing the jaws, nostrils and tip of snout.
(The photos is required to confirm specie before issuing of record)
An object of scale (rod and reel, cool drink tin etc) should be featured against the fish in order to confirm actual size.

No GNKHU application will be considered should the application be submitted later than 2 months after catch was made.
Those applications to be considered as SASAA records have to be submitted to the GNKHU records officer within 2 months
after catch (in order to be submitted to SASAA within allotted timeframe).
All applications to be submitted by the angler’s club record officer.
The following information to be reflected on the application form:

All measurements to be done in centimeters (cm).

Where possible provide both FL / PCL and TL. Fork length (FL): tip of snout to start of swallow tail. Total length (TL): tip
of snout to end of tail. Pre-caudal length (PCL): tip of snout to pre-caudal notch in sharks which have such notch.(Mostly
sharks with sharp teeth) Disc width (DW): straight line of wingspan of rays and skates.(See flip side of weigh card)

Male or female fish.

Date and location of catch.

Details of equipment used (rod, reel, line etc).

Signature and details of witness of catch.
GNKHU affiliated anglers only may apply for a record.
Records will be disqualified should:



The angler not adhere to GNKHU or SASAA angling rules.
Any mutilated fish. (Ex .- Mauled/bitten by a shark or seal)
All of the above requirements not be met.
