Jeffrey Ho has over 30 years of management and professional experiences in architecture,
urban planning and urban design. He is currently the Managing Director of Surbana Urban
Planning Group (SUPG) at Surbana International Consultants, where he leads a multidisciplinary and cultural team with a portfolio of numerous first-mover and award winning
projects across the world.
Jeffrey’s urban planning and design philosophy is largely influenced by his architectural
background, which branded his planning approach as a ‘fusion of art and geometry’. His
brand is recognizable in some of his masterplans that include the Tianjin Eco City in China,
Haiphong Industrial Park in Vietnam, Mumbai Masterplan in India, as well as masterplans of
Al Khor and Al Wakra in Qatar.
He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the National University of Singapore and Master of
Architecture and Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, USA. In
Singapore, his professional involvements have been as an expert panel member and advisor
in various government ministries and agencies, an external examiner in the National
University of Singapore’s (NUS) Masters Program in urban design, and an architect mentor
to NUS architecture students. Overseas, he is a city planning advisor to the City of Jinjiang in
Fujian Province, and has been a guest lecturer on new town planning and design, as well as a
jury member of international design competitions. He is currently a member of the advisory
panel for Centre of Liveable Cities and a planning inspector of the Ministry of National
Development’s (MND) appeals panel for amendments to the Singapore Master Plan. He is
also an Expert Reviewer for the Land and Liveability National Innovation Challenge research
proposals led by MND and the National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s Office,
Singapore.
He has received numerous citations for his work, and has recently authorized a book “RedDotting the World”. In 2009, Jeffrey received two PUSH Awards by the Design Singapore
Council for his relentless effort to ‘push’ design excellence to achieve new heights and
frontiers beyond Singapore’s boundaries.
