Where is the PFD’s money being spent? • The PFD dollars will be spent specifically on the Event Center and Parking and “extra” money will be spent on the Sports Complex. Public Facilities District Costs The PFD will be contribution approximately $5.5 million that will be used for Event Center and related parking facilities. Event Center/Sports Complex LLC What is their role in the project? • The LLC will market the Event Center and Sports Complex recruiting sporting venues and tournaments as well as special events in to the region. Centralia School District What is the School Districts direct contribution to the project? • $ 600,000 to construct the track • Utilizing property owned by the School District Stadium – new artificial turf Sports fields south of the stadium Parking City Project Costs How will the City pay for its share of the Event Center/Sports Complex? • The City is considering bonding a portion of its Hotel/Motel (Stadium) Funds. What amount of the Centralia Hotel/Motel Funds is being considered? • Approximately $1.25 million for the construction of tennis courts, multi-use fields, football/soccer field, and trails but the Council has not determined the final amount. • The City will be also use the value of land as a match for the project. Event Center and Sports Complex Phase I (2010-2012) will consist of: Phase I-II will consist of: Event Center (PFD focus) Parking (PFD focus) Turf the football/soccer field (SD/City focus) Track (SD focus) Tennis Courts (SD/City focus) Multi-use fields--baseball/softball/small soccer-constructed behind stadium (City/SD focus) Trails (City/SD/Lewis County Community Trails/PFD focus) Zip Line (LLC/City focus) – could be in Phase I or II Zip Line (LLC/City focus) Trails (City/SD/Lewis County Community Trails/PFD focus) Phase III Trails (City/SD/Lewis County Community Trails/PFD focus) Event Center and Sports Complex Benefits of the Project • This regional project will channel economic development benefits for the all of Lewis County. • With the development of the Lewis County Event Center and Sports Complex new events or activities will be created enticing people to visit Lewis County. This influx of people will then provide additional income for restaurants, retail establishments and overnight facilities within all of the County not just Centralia. • The cities of Medford and Lacey among others have built similar facilities in the recent past and have seen a positive return on their investment. Event Center The Event Center is a multi-use regional facility. One of the “goals” of the Public Facilities District is to create a regional facility. The Event Center isn’t just for sports but it is a multi-use facility. Sporting events are just one aspect of the Center other events could include: concerts, United Way events, Festival of Trees, Rotary Conventions, FFA competitions, College Foundation Auction, art shows, and other meetings and conferences.
