High Calibre Pistol Permit Legitimate Reason Form
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION PRIOR TO COMPLETING THIS FORM
This is an interactive form and applies to a person making application to possess and use a pistol with a calibre of more
than .38 inch (but not more than .45 inch), that is not otherwise a prohibited pistol, for the purpose of participating in the
specialised shooting competition events of metallic silhouette and/or single action shooting only.
Please complete all sections, print this form and submit with the P634 'Application for a Firearms Permit' form and any
supporting documentation to the Firearms Registry, Locked Bag 1, Murwillumbah NSW 2484.

To be issued a High Calibre Pistol Permit you must be a current financial member of a club, you must have access to a range
approved for metallic silhouette and/or single action shooting competition and you must have a special need to obtain the
permit.
Complete this form and print and have the Club Secretary or other relevant office holder if there is no Secretary complete this
section. Alternatively, you can attach official club documentation that details the information required in this section.

FURTHER INFORMATION
It is a serious offence under the Firearms Act 1996 to make a statement or provide information in relation to an application that
is false or misleading. By signing the Declaration on your firearms permit application form, you are certifying that ALL the
information supplied in relation to this application is true and correct.
For the purposes of this application, a high calibre pistol is a pistol with a calibre of more than .38 inch, but no more than .45
inch, but that is not otherwise a prohibited pistol. A pistol with a calibre more than .38 inch which is a black powder pistol is not
considered to be a prohibited pistol within the meaning of section 4C of the Firearms Act 1996 and therefore does not apply to
this permit.
A high calibre pistol can only be used at ranges authorised for specialised shooting competitions.
If approved your High Calibre Pistol Permit will only be valid for the term of your Category H Sport/Target Shooting Firearms
Licence.
