Kwongan Colloquium 2010 Development and Biodiversity – can they co-exist? 18 and 19 September 2010 Organisers: School of Plant Biology and Conservation Council, together with Science Divisions of Kings Park & Botanic Garden and Department of Environment and Conservation, with sponsorship from the Busselton Naturalists Club. Audience: Fellow scientists, growers, managers of the land, environmental officers working for mining companies, anybody with a keen interest in native plants in WA, landowners with rare and endangered species on their land, people responsible for management of road verges. Aims: To enhance awareness of the significance of native plants in the general community and build stronger links between UWA’s School of Plant Biology and its associates with the conservation and mining industry and the wider community. Explore options to work towards collaboration, e.g., in ARC-Linkage proposals with conservation and mining industry and any other interested parties. He will show us his trial plots of Verticordia and speak about his experience. Appropriate bushwalking footwear, sun protection and long trousers are recommended. Time: 09:00 - 16:00 Departure at 9 am and return approx. 4 pm; Cost of the Field Trip: $95, including morning and afternoon tea, lunch. All amounts quoted include GST.
