Summary Please provide a brief summary of the application (no more than 250 words) and mention six words that characterise your proposal. 3. Principal applicant NWO applies the rule of a single principal applicant. This is the person primarily responsible for the research programme. It is recommended under b) to pay attention to: Urgency of the proposed research for the scientific enhancement of nutrition issues in respect of the themes and focus area(s) described in the call; Economic and/or societal added value and practical applicability of the intended research results. c) Cohesion and focus of the project It is recommended under c) to pay attention to: Usefulness and necessity of participation by all consortium partners (public and private parties); Organisation of the project: interaction and collaboration between researchers and private and public partners in the consortium; Management of the project: how is it organised? Clarify, in relation to the work programme, how project management will monitor progress and intervene if necessary. Word count: please indicate the number of words you have used for question 11. The maximum number of words is 4,500 (literature references are excluded from this count, fond size 9 is allowed for literature references) 12. Work programme Specify and phase a work programme for the intended duration of funding in a clear schedule or timetable with milestones and deliverables. The schedule must clarify concisely but concretely the intended results (conditions for being able to carry out research, new methods, research results, forms of disseminating new knowledge, products other than knowledge, etc.). Also include defining moments in the programme and explain the alternative(s) that can be used if appropriate. Indicate the names of the researchers who are expected to deliver the results. In the case of post-doc research, a planning for the research process must be provided (thesis manuscript must be completed within the appointment period!). 13. Brief curriculum vitae of the principal applicant and the co-applicant(s) Please provide, on no more than 1 page, a brief curriculum vitae of the principal applicant and of the coapplicant(s). It is expressly not the intention that you provide an exhaustive curriculum vitae; it should be confined to matters that are relevant to the assessment of this application. 14. Publications Selection of publications. Please specify a selection of up to 10 top publications by the applicant and coapplicants. (fond size 9 is allowed). 15. Lay summary Please prepare a lay summary. This should be a Dutch text of no more than 250 words. In case of grant award, this text may also be used by NWO for publicity purposes. 16. Research Budget Please use the table ‘Project Budget’ for the description of the personnel and material resources required for the entire duration of the total project. It’s important to take good note of ‘What can be applied for’ (Call paragraph 3.2). Please also provide (in a separate text box with reference to entries in the table): a) an account for all the requested resources; b) a description of the contribution from the partner(s). Explanation for the three types of funding: 1) the NWO grant applied for, 2) the cash contributions and 3) the in kind contributions. For all three the following holds: only costs and contributions related directly and exclusively to the research proposal can be can be part of the project budget. This bench fee, which amounts to €5,000, is to cover expenses incurred for the defence ceremony and for attending conferences. The bench fee is intended for the person carrying out the project but is made available to the project manager. Although the person carrying out the project is entitled to use the bench fee, this should be done in consultation with the project manager. Nonetheless, the bench fee may be used at the discretion of the project manager/person carrying out the project.
