Dashboard
Size:
A standard report should have size range:
Minimum size: Width: 720px
Height: 700px
Maximum size: Width: 1024px Height: 700px
Notes:

It is our intent for dashboards to be easily viewable on a tablet device, so when authoring a report, be sure to
use the Device Viewer to test out tablet scenarios to be sure that your report can be easily viewed in the
different size ranges specified above.
Report Title:
All reports should have a title and should use the existing title format in the Template.


Tableau Bold, 24pt, White, All Caps
o Only if the title doesn’t fit should the font size be less that 24pt.
Title bar should include the “info” report description
Report Description:
This section currently includes three sections: About the Report, About the Data, and Report Tips.




About the Report – Summarize report function and purpose.
About the Data - Identify data on display and details of data (data capture, officially enrolled, etc.)
Report Tips - List any useful tips/functionality for the report (term limits, selecting units on a table to
alter graph, etc.)
Set Report Description sheet to have a fixed width of 50px.
“Select” Container:
This vertical container on the left of the dashboard should contain all filters, parameters, legends, or other form of user
interaction in the report. “SELECT… “titles break up the user interactions into categories to ease user with finding
desired interactions.



Data Formatting
Counts:


Counts of people should always be whole numbers (no decimal places) – no half people
Include a thousands separator (,)
Percentages:

Percentages should be to a single decimal place (i.e. 7.8%)
FTE:

FTE should be to a single decimal place (1,908.3)
Dollars:


All border lines should be solid and at the thinnest setting.

Row dividers and column dividers should never be set at the highest setting (generating a line for every single
row/column). Dividers should be used only when two or more dimensions are being used on the row or column
shelf.

Graphs/Visuals
Axes:



Y-axis minimum should be set to 0. Y-axis maximum should be automatic (automatically adjust to the data on
display).
When using a dual-axis, be sure to Synchronize Axis (right-click on the graph axis to see this option).
For trend data, term/year should always be on the x-axis.
