What’s Up With That? is Q Center’s version of the syndicated game show, “The Family Feud.” Two teams of five players square off to show their knowledge of their organization or how well they have learned key content during their sessions. These hands-on activities give participants an opportunity to share a unique experience and learn in a more interactive way. Professional facilitators lead discussions after each activity to identify factors that contributed to the team’s success and to discuss areas for improvement. During these discussions, participants share ideas and identify parallels to their work environment. IN The goal of this competition is to accumulate as many team points as possible in a 60-minute time period, while also constructing a bike. There are three ways to earn points: bike construction quality and speed, challenge stations and brain teasers. This workshop has a philanthropic side, which will touch the hearts of the participants. All bikes built during this workshop are donated to local charities, having a lasting impact on the children who receive them. Post-activity discussions focus on creative problem solving, resource management and the impact of individual tasks on team success. Time required: 2 hours Moviemaking Challenge IN Teams are given the challenge of creating their own TV commercial. It could be for a product that doesn’t exist yet, a service your organization could provide or any other concept. The goal is to enhance interaction and get creative juices flowing. After spending a few minutes brainstorming their concept, each team works with a Q Creative producer and videographer to record the footage that will become their masterpiece. Q Creative’s professional editors then create the final version of each video. The real fun begins as the videos premiere at a screening and Academy Awards event where everyone gets to see all the videos and vote for their favorites. Teams divide into groups, and each of the groups competes in one of the activities. The activities that make up the Challenge Event are: Planks – Teams assemble large wooden puzzles, trying to minimize cycle times. Lost and Found – a property-wide scavenger hunt The Pipeline – Teams move marbles into a can using lengths of halved PVC pipe. Breaking the Code – a set of brain teasers and small team challenges Mouse Trap – Teams build a trap to capture a pool ball rolling across the floor. The number of activities included in the event is based on the overall group size. Teams earn points based on their level of success in each of the activities. This challenge encourages innovative thinking, resource management, project quality and risk assessment. Time required: 2 hours Quest Quest is an outdoor challenge competition held on Q Center grounds. It is made up of a scavenger hunt and several team building challenges. The group is divided into teams and the objective is to maximize points before the clock runs out. Teams earn points through core challenges, Quest caches and brain teasers. The team with the most points at the end of the race is Quest Champion. Time required: 2 hours Adventure Program IN The Adventure Program involves a series of hands-on experiential activities that tie into the group’s overall goals and objectives. Examples of a couple of activities: Acid River – Using the provided resources, the entire group must transport everyone across a designated area without touching the floor. Discussion often centers on creative risktaking, problem solving and planning. Omega Code – Teams work together to unlock a code and discover a sequence in the correct order, as quickly as possible. One of the groups has their eyes covered so they can not see, one is not allowed to speak, and one is given an overwhelming set of tasks to accomplish. The groups must discover, coordinate and complete a sequence of complex and interdependent tasks to move toward completion of the activity and overall team success.
