Purpose of Role (Why does this role exist, what is it designed to achieve?)
Increase the amount of junior rugby players in Western Australia. Specifically to increase the
conversion of promotional participants to non—competition to competition participants. To develop
innovative Recruitment and Development plans and initiatives in conjunction with rugby clubs and
schools. To increase the amount of schools playing in rugby competitions. To develop links from
schools to rugby clubs. To ensure that Western Force promotion is embedded into all junior rugby
participation and recruitment activities.

SPECIFIC TASKS / KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
General
-
Design an Innovative recruitment plan for WA that ensures connection from promotional visits,
non-competition visits, Game On(Sporting Schools Australia) and Junior Force 5 programs to
recruitment programs at clubs, to increase participation
-
Design and implement a plan to drive junior attendance at Western Force Home games through
Match day experiences and promotion embedded in all participation and recruitment activities
-
Manage the activities of casual RugbyWA Development Officers and provide appropriate
professional advice as and when required to ensure effective use of time / budget
-
Assisting development officers facilitate sessions
-
Present at Education courses when required
-
Manage the development budget for respective region with a focus on revenue generation
including delivery of VIVA 7s
-
Keeping accurate participation records, writing programme evaluations and providing monthly
reports on all Participation and recruitment activities undertaken
-
Other duties as determined by the General Manager – Game Development

Plan in conjunction with other Development staff the Yearly, monthly and weekly Development
strategy
-
Liaise with ARU about recruitment products – Game On and VIVA 7s
-
Engage with Clubs and Sevens staff to introduce VIVA 7s
-
Development of Youth Girls School and Club Programs
-
Manage the casual development budget and co-ordinate casual development officers in
conjunction with other development staff
Other Development work as directed by General Manager, Game Development
Clubs & Schools

Work with Club presidents and coaching co-ordinators to Improve and deliver Club Coaching
Resources

Consult with junior club presidents and implement recruitment and development plans tailored
for clubs (in line with the development plan)

Design and deliver School Holiday programs that raise revenue for Game Development

Develop links to clubs from CSC schools – Data Capture model and implementation

Implement RWA school tournaments as per the development plan

Grow the number of schools and teams competing in RWA tournaments

Knowledge, abilities and skills required (Competencies)












Current ARU Level I Coaching Accreditation (Level II preferred but not essential)
Current ARU Level 1 Refereeing Accreditation preferred but not essential
Demonstrated experience in the planning, coordination, development, facilitation, presentation,
reporting and evaluation of training and education programs
Excellent ability to communicate on all levels with diverse groups of people
Proven project management experience
A knowledge of the primary and secondary school sport systems
A passion for and understanding of the game of rugby union including understanding of the
Junior Player Pathway (Walla, Mini, Midi) and how the sport operates in Western Australia
Demonstrated proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products, including Outlook
Proven initiative, motivation and strong work ethic
The proven ability to work with minimal supervision whilst still contributing to a small and
committed professional team
Proven supervisory experience
Current Western Australian C--Class Drivers License or equivalent

This position will involve work outside normal working hours including weekends and match days
during the Super 14 and Community Rugby seasons.
